Definitely a fine step in the right direction for this aspect of the game. And with more colors and patterns we may start seeing units actually painting their mechs in unit colors. And with brighter colors available it will be easier to distinguish your unitmates' mechs from enemy mechs, leading (hopefully) to fewer accidental friendly fire incidents.

Have to say, seems bit expensive to me... but I'm thinking that the ability to actually OWN the paint is going to go over fairly well.

I might actually buy a premium paint or two if the colors aren't washed out and "bleh."

What? It was never like that. You could select colors, see what they are, and you had to hit "save mech" or whatever before it actually bought the colors.

huge improvement. sure it's more expensive at first, but being able to reuse and switch back and forth is totally worth it

white
gray
red
blue
green
yellow

and maybe 1-2 patters each for 2 mech chassis that i play the most. damn i might actually have to buy more mc, but if so i'll happily do so as compared to the horrible system they had before

This is a great boon for units that drop together as well. Bring able to buy 3 colors (maybe 4 or 5) for CB or MC and equip all your mechs with the unit colors will be a great feature.

It is still expensive and hopefully we'll see some sales and whatnot.

Huge step in the right direction so far as "purchase scheme" goes. And perfect pricing for the single-use paint jobs, if you ask me. Less than a dollar at any price point (I think.)
