LRMs, after being fired, use their minimum range to gain altitude, arm and curve to the target. Because of this flight path you can observe quite often that LRMs are hitting the ground when targeted on a fast/light mech. My idea here is simple: Two modes for the LRM flight plan which can be switched by the mech-pilot on-the-fly (but not for missiles that are already on their way to the hostile). The "curve" flight path as we all know it and a "straight" flight path. The "straight" flight plan raises the mininum range of the LRMs to get "hot", but the missiles are heading straight to the hostile in low attitude.

LRMs just need 2 modes - direct and indirect modes.

Direct would be straight and flatter - indirect would arc up even higher.

Direct would hit harder as you need to expose yourself to fire - indirect would be more scattered and do much less damage overall but would allow you to hit people in cover better, a trade off for not exposing yourself.

If this was implemented LRMs would be much better balanced and ECM would be changed to fit this new paradigm.
