been running 4X ML's and 2x uac5's with heat efficiency of 1.42 342 armor 30 firepower a xl 235 which makes top speed 58.6kph which im completely fine with but recently i switched to

2x LL's 2x uac5's with 1.46 heat efficiency out of 2 320 armor 28 firepower same engine.

im wondering if the heat efficiency is worth less armor and the 2 points in firepower.

will 2x LL's be more effective damaging a atlas than 4x ML's all focused fired on a component ofcourse

I run the same build - I prefer the LL because it gives you a lot more firepower at different ranges. It may be -marginally- less DPS, but you'll end the matches with more damage done because you can apply it more regularly.

edit: My build:

2LL
2 UAC5
5t ammo (legs & head)
Double HS, Endosteel
12 heatsinks
XL300 engine

CPLT-K2

I'm not sure why you run such a small enginge? Ammo is an issue if you have to carry your team super hard, but I usually run dry when 7/8 enemy mechs are dead. I use the LL to take ranged pot shots, the UAC's are for guaranteed hits.

Your build is essentially a brawler, yet you're using a very small engine. K2 cheese builds are on the wild so you WILL get focused immediately as soon as you enter the combat from which you won't be able to run.

Either change 2LLs/4MLs for 2 PPCs and keep your distance to combat, or slap an XL265 or higher in and go brawling.

I'm very leery of XL engines in Catapults. Your side torsos may be slim targets from the front, but if you are swinging your torsos from side to side to shield your cockpit or spread the damage you take around, they get hit too. They also tend to get hit by flankers a lot. I've found the AC5s on my K2 getting critted out before I lose the arms happens surprisingly often, so I dread to think what would happen with an XL engine in there.

A1 and K2 'pults tend to draw a lot of fire. The A1 because people expect you are packing 6 SRM6 (which is the only reliable build for it, thought the recent changes to PPCs might change that), the K2 because people expect you are running twin AC20s or Gauss (Though I've also seen quad large lasers a lot as of late).
