I like a lot of what Hekalite said, except I disagree that colors that cost C-Bills are "free". We spend money on Hero Mechs and Membership to get bonus C-Bills so we can afford game assets.

If colors are priced in C-Bills so high that you realistically need to grind those C-Bills with a Hero Mech or need a Membership to unlock them in a reasonable amount of time, you have de-facto attached a cost to them.

You got cbills back for the reset, it was due to how paint options are set up now. Just go buy and paint your mechs, I recommend you use all the same colors, skins etc for everything and keep costs down.

The 750 MC cost to unlock a single pattern that type of mech simply makes no sense from a numbers point of view. Even if that mech family has 4 variants, the single use cost of 75 MC is significantly cheaper. 75 x 4 = 300 MC which sure is a whole lot better than 750. Even if you're silly enough to overwrite a purchased camo pattern, you could do that twice on every variant and still be only 600 MC instead of the 750.

Where is the great value in spending more up front? There isn't any, it's a terrible deal. Perhaps if you made it 750 MC to unlock that camo pattern for ALL medium or ALL light etc etc mechs it might make a bit more fiscal sense. Just because we're dealing in money through the guise of MC doesn't mean we can't figure out simple math.

If the price is in cbills a steep cost is fair enough, think how many cbills we will build up after a while and if they are unlocked for all your mechs then should be expensive. Imagine how much it would cost to repaint a mech after every battle.

I'm not to worried about the cost of the new paint, as much as I am about the way my customizations and in game purchases were thrown away. In other games (even free to play) when an update like this happens they either, a ) find a way to allow people to keep what they have or, b ) if the game has been changed in such a way that old purchases, achievements, ect can't carry over they compensate players in a way that makes up for the inconvenience.

I can honestly say I don't plan on spending any more real world money on this game until it matures from BETA into real game (except for premium time). I can only imagine how p.o. I'd be if I had lost all my weapon customizations ect.

...why did regular punctuation turn into emoticons the first time I posted this?

Fantastic that there is a wide variety of colors. The pricing is terrible though, I already put enough money to the MWO cause on expensive mechs :)

Once we unlock a color.. we should have a tab in the UI for it instead of traking it down every time.

My question is pretty simple.

It is 75MC to unlock a camo spec for a mech, why would I pay 750 MC to unlock camo for all variants, when there are only 4 of each mech type?

I believe I purchased one of the camo specs thinking it would be available for all mechs, which would actually make sense.... but just the VARIANTS????????

Are you ******* kidding me? not even the CLASS of mech??????

WTF PGI, way to absolutly screw your customer

If you buy it for full price, you can remove and re-add it at will over and over again. With single use you can't.

Howeverm I agree with you that the pricing gap makes absolutely no sense at all. Even IF I'd like to change my cammo schemes all the times, I'd have to be doing so A LOT to make up for the difference in pricing. All these things, including colors, are sill far too expensive.

The only reason why this is working out so far is because there are founders with "free" MC to spend, who have nothing else to spend them on and do not think of these MC as actual money. In addition to that, there are always some weirdos who are willing to spend multiple times the buy price of a high quality game on such things in a free-to-play and still think they made a bargain.

750 gives you the camo forever on that mech, so if you have 2 skins you want to switch between you can, without paying more one time skins at 75MC.

Is it too expensive?
Maybe, but buy them on sales if its too costly for you, or just get the one time skins if you dont want to switch between several. 75 is not a lot.

Also.. that is a lot of rage over some skins and prices for them during beta.
They have already reset and refunded costs once, migth happen again if they want to tune more, so take it easy :)
Its a free game, and you dont need skins to enjoy it.

There's a section at the bottom containing all the colours you've unlocked regardless of which section it first came from.

Can you imagine how much more you'd be freaking out if they set the prices too low and decided they needed to raise them in the future?

That's like what, ~$5? (depends upon how large a batch you buy them in) There's 100s of colors (which is good). PGI expects me to drop several hundred dollars just to have a decent color pallete? Give me a break. I saw the "basic" colors I could buy for c-bills, even bought most of them. They're not very basic...they're all actually muddled, slightly off-color colors. But to get a bright, pur white, I need to pay $5? WTF?

They need a plan that makes some sense. I'm perfectly willing to pay real money to get doo-dads and pretty up my mech. I even think it's a good idea. But you have to give it to me in chunks that mae some sort of sense.

I might pay $5 for an entire range of colors, maybe (more than a dozen). If one gave me the "primary" colors of the rainbow, another a set of pastels, maybe a "darK" range that made some appropriate zombie or gothy colors, or a full camo set, like all the variaties of green that made good forest camo, another for city camo, etc.

But I'm not paying $5 for one color, no way, no how. I'm lucky a pure black and a decent red are unlocked from the PC gamer skin.

Then don't.

Not to be snarky, but colors are a fairly traditional money grab in the F2P games. Look at camo in WoT, or hats in TF2, and so on and so forth. No one is making you buy every color. In fact, no one is making you buy any color. So if the prices seem high, then don't spend the money.

I'm afraid PGI will have to lay off several developers because you do not want to buy a colour.
