The hardpoint layout on this 'Mech is damned awful to work with! So far the best I could come up with was a comprimise between speed, firepower and available critical slots...

1 MPL
2 LPL
1 SRM-6 w/Artemis
2 SRM-4 w/Artemis
4 Artemis SRM Ammo
18 DHS
Endo-Steel Internals
464 Standard Armor
360 XL (80.2 Kph w/Speed Tweak)

Here is the Smurfy link...PRETTY BABY

My choice of SRM launchers was purely due to the available number of missles tubes in their respective locations, All-in-all this build has a 61 point alpha, solid armor, decent speed and managable cooling. If you have something better please let me know! (Seriously!)

Note: I did consider dropping the Artemis for a larger 370XL Engine (82.4 Kph) and another Double Heatsink but the increase seemed so trivial I went with the tighter shot group for the SRM launchers.

I'm disappointed that Helmstif has become an LRM ho. Drop that crap, grab some SRMs, and get to brawling!

Hold hold HOLD YER PHONE! I just feel compelled not to was all those RT salvos! And it's just a single LRM15! If they put all three missile hardpoints in RT - which they should, BTW - then for Gabe's sake I'm gonna brawl!!!

So far, I'm liking this build:

XL400
1 LL
2 MPL
3 SRM6s (2T ammo)
17 DHS (HE = 1.32)
Endo
max armor

It has an alpha strike of 66.  If I swap the 2 arm SRM6s for SRM4s, I can swap the LL for an LPL.  The SRMs fire in one volley, but the overall damage is less (alpha = 57). It's easier to drop fools with the 3 SRM6 build.

I have wrecked so many damn stalkers and K2s, it's not even funny. The torso twist range and speed is very useful.

Currently running mine with:

XL 400 w/ 6 Double Heat Sinks inside

1x Medium Laser (head)

1x Large Laser (arm)

1x Large Laser (torso)

2x SRM-6 (arm)

1x SRM-6 (torso)

Ferro Fibrous

Endo-Steel

Double Heat Sinks

Heat is a bit of a problem if I go alpha-crazy, but it's wicked fun running around at 81 kp/h in an Assault.

I am short 1 crit slot to run this build...any suggestions?

In general, if you want to use PB, use it as striker relying heavily on hit'n'run tactics. Otherwise this mech will fail you.

If you are not sure about buying Pretty Baby but got some Cbills to spend, then have a look at my AWS-9m Pretty Baby Testdrive build:

It is not perfect but as close as it gets imho.

I have no idea what makes you say that when faster 'Mechs can easily run past you and you have only ONE arm laser to catch up.

Who cares when you have 200 degree torso turn.

Quote

Currently settled down for 1xLPL, 2xML, 1xLBX20 2xASRM4 and 1xLRM15.

If they could add ONE energy hardpoint ANYWHERE...it's not strictly a lore 'Mech (or is it?) anyway, and if you argue that it runs fast then...just...just LOOK AT 9M! It has hardpoints all over it! And don't tell me 5 km/h difference is a big deal for a fast 'Mech!

I think you're too stuck in a mentality where you have to fill every hole. You don't need that LRM15, LPL's are pretty awesome now. And yes, 5 km/h difference is a big deal. It may not feel like it at first, but it simply is.

I generally try to not formulate an opinion on a build or a mech until after quite a bit of play testing, but after one night (at the worst time for PUG stomping) I am surprised at how good the PB is. Other than decelerating, it is more maneuverable than my 9M. The direct fire laser damage is less than my 9M (21 vs 27), but the direct fire SRM damage is much higher (45 vs 30). Heat is about the same, perhaps a bit worse on the PB.

So far, I'm quite pleased with it. It's not nearly as bad in reality as it seems on paper. At least in able to fully utilize all the hard points, unlike my 9M.

Yup. ALL **** MUST BE FILLED. I'm stuck and I CAN'T GET OUT!! HEEEEEEEEEEEELP!!

Speaking of which, any word when PGI is adding appearance changes that reflects the loadout? They've already done it to K2's arms....

In conclusion, I tried every build in this thread. Only the ones including the 400 xl engine really do shine. I highly suggest using this one http://mwo.smurfy-ne...af1162c4c7ca850 for starters. You can not pilot Pretty Baby like a Brawler. Try running her as a fast striker, like the hbk-4sp. You will love this mech and you will never look back to the 9m.

I tried some of SR6+PPC builds and some another, but i found this best for my playstyle (I think pretty baby is not the best brawler). I usually inflict most dmg of my team even in epic loses. One big cons - if some mech get very close (90- m) to me, im dead. So i stay in group and support them with my firepower from little distance. Its very easy to play it and usually I dont have problems with heat.

I would highly recommend to use the possibilities of this Mech. With an XL-400 you have a nearly 90km/h Awesome. Three SRM6 (Artemis) and three medium lasers plus double HS and 480 points of standardarmour seems totally deadly for my opinion. Cooling rate is at ca. 50% and 7.50 dps seems also quite nice for an Awesome. Do not forget, that you have 6 internal heatsinks in an 400xl! And with an AMS your not prey for enemies with some lrm-tubes...

Not sure why people don't think the PB is a good brawler. Mine wrecks face. Those 3 SRM6s make it absolutely lethal close range.

I still need to figure out how to keep 18 DHS while running the weapons and ammo count I want. I may have to drop the engine size, which I hate to do since I just unlocked the speed tweak last night.
