I question the cost of MC items because I think from an economic standpoint that PGI is actually hurting their total revenue with the really high prices.
The elasticity of these items is such that I believe if the costs were about 50% they would sell 3X as many. If I am correct then the total sales revenue would be +%50. Possibly it would not be this drastic but I believe I am basically correct.
I also think MC item prices are too high because there is a threshold price that might be too high for many players. Example: A player that has very limited funds will buy zero MCs or only enough for premium time because they just won't spend 1000MC on one item. That same player might spend 300MC each for four different items though. 1200MC spent is better than zero.

Its a lot less of an outrage if PGI lowers their prices, even temporarily with sales and the such, then if they hiked the prices up after their research shows they could make more money.

I don't see the problem with the pricing. TF2, a WIDLY popular game that allows multiple 1-time-only paint can be applied to up to 4 items on a player. Depending on the color, that can be between $5 - $10 for a one time coloring.
PGI is offering paint colors at $2 a pop and it's PERMANENTLY unlocked. I don't see that as any way of being unreasonable, especially for something that is cosmetic.

I'm not suggesting that they are being unreasonable. I'm suggest that their microeconomics are incorrect as I think they would make more money if the prices were much lower.

I agree with OP here. I just dropped $20 on War Thunder, a game I don't play NEARLY as much as MWO. Why? I felt I was getting a good deal for my money. With that $20 I got 2 airplanes, premium time for 2 weeks, and I still have about 60% of my premium currency left over.
What would I get with MWO? 4 Light mechs, 2 medium, 1 Heavy or most of an assault mech.
It's frustrating the hell out of me, because I really do want to spend my money on this game. I want a Pretty Baby, I want the Phranken skin, but it's way too much. So instead, since becoming a founder I have bought ZERO MCs. That $20 could have been yours PGI!
That is because you are a sucker, and do not know the value of a dollar.

Hey, if you think you have an authority over my money and how I spend it, try to take it from me, but keep it down when I break your fingers in 6 different places.

I happily drop $60 on any game I like, since that's what a box game would cost me anyways. I've dropped that (and more) on MW:O. I'm having fun, so it's worth the money to me. Call me a sucker, what ever.
