Shadow Hawk; especially if I get to modify it to my special variant.

I definitely agree on beginnig with a house oriented light mech. If it is f2p everyone could be able to pay to start with a heavier mech ;-) Would be also ok for me to start with an wasp or hornet, but in this case I would like to have PVE first.

Catapult! It's been a long time favourite and nothing beats long ranged death. Eventually after Clan invasion I'd love to get my hands on a Mad Dog(Vulture).

I am not even a Clanner and I know better to not call it a vulture.

I have no idea how expensive mechs are compared to each other...
But if cost is a concern, I'll start with a Dragon (5,036,800 C-bills)
If my budget is larger, I will be sufficiently picky enough to use a Grand Dragon (13,354,880 C-bills)

Either way, I plan on clocking in so many hours should I start in either one of those ;)

I prefer mediums that can do well at mid to close range, I would be right at home behind the "wheel" of an Enfield, Uziel, or maybe even a Bushwacker-S2.

I think the Jenner would be best.
It's a good all around light mech that can be used in a lot of situations.
AND it's not ugly anymore, thanks to our lovely artist!

Panther or Jenner as my Ideal Light or starting mech.

I'd also like a Catapult-K...or Warhammer K, wouldn't it be nice to have a Hatamoto-Chi too? Notice I do have a theme...all building from my tabletop choices as well.

I would like people to start in: Whatever they like. If you like a 'mech, you're more likely to stick it out with that chassis, than have to switch to the new hotness to compete even though you don't like the new 'mech. Aside, the leveling of 'mechs and mechlab will go a long ways towards this.

I, personally, would like to start in a Fafnir. Consequently, I'll probably have a computer capable of running this once the Fafnir is made available to the general public.

I would have to vote Locust, stripped down to have a Large Laser on legs. I led some pretty destructive sneak attacks on some heavies in my time. Park between a heavy's shoulder blades, fire a beam or 2, and skip off behind a hill before they had the opportunity to turn and fire. This is board game stuff mind you when you could plan and execute moves based on initiative.

MW3 I was typically a Thor sniper (jump jets, laser, and gauss cannons) or something small and annoying to overheat the enemy (Hunchback with AC and flamers or hot rockets of some sort).

Good times!

Cheers all.

Respect for choosing the Fafnir, one of my all time favorite assualt mechs.

Its ridiculous that people are throwing out assault of even heavy mechs. Its pretty much a forgone conclusion that we will be given a light or medium. It should be something like a Jenner, Commando, or Chimera that is flexible in terms of its loadouts and speed.

An Archer. Sure everyone is familiar with the weapons load out but who cares when you have the mass to go toe-to-toe with most mechs. I wouldn't take an Archer up against an Atlas but I would pound away at anything 60 tons or less with it.

I dunno, if they really are going to broaden the use of lighter mechs then it might not be that big a deal. Also in that case at launch it will be like assault mechs mysteriously don't exist. This will also make it so that people will jump on assualt mechs as an "earned" thing which would be contradictory to the general sentiment that MWOnline should not be a race to get the biggest mech.
