You know, the Rifleman is such a beast you forget it's on the light side of the Heavy class. It fights like a fast assault mech and it even looks like it. God I love that machine.

There's such an excellent variety of mechs available, even without the introduction of Clan tech. Very excited to rain death from afar...

I wouldn't mind starting in an owens, raven, jenner, or a cougar. I'm going on the assumption we'll be issued only lights as starters.

I would have to say the PM6 Peacemaker custom variant. If not that then a Hellion maybe ill trip over one somewhere on the outlying worlds...... or it will fall off a truck for me within the inner sphere? If none of those my finally light choice would be the raven. For my medium a hatchetman or shadowcat will do. For the heavy timber wolf/mad cat/rifelman/galahad/glass spider/warhammer. Finally Assualt madcat/warhammer/mauler/striker.

Since I'm not that "fluent" in the mechwarrior universe, how come the Blood Asp isn't in one of the clan assault mechs? (80 tons)

Too soon in the timeline? (since it's 3049?)

Plus its an Star Adder design, so it will probably never make it into MWO.

Microsoft did not release the longbow with point release,it was part of a machpack made by the wonderful ppl at MekTek development,i believe it was mechpack 2 or 3,and YES...it is the unseen longbow.

any upgrades past point release were done by third party with mechwarrior4 vengeance,and mercenaries...mektek/mechwarrirorleagues/etc.

i believe the combined total of new mechs made by mektek were like 120...in addidtion to infantry,and battle armor/elementals

The BNC-5S, if that's the one with the 360XL, 2 ERPPC, and a Gauss? That should be available, as that's in the 350 TRO (both original and revised).

Blood Asp is from 3060. So 10 years off.
