Microsoft did not release the longbow with point release,it was part of a machpack made by the wonderful ppl at MekTek development,i believe it was mechpack 2 or 3,and YES...it is the unseen longbow.

The Longbow was allready included in the retail version of MW4:Mercs. It's even on the cover.

There is one thing that does worry me starting the game in 3049, and that is Level 2 equipment is starting to become very common. In my humble opinion we should play for a while with only level 1 battlemechs. Then in maybe a years time add the level 2 stuff. It is sort of like starting off in a MMORPG with a bank full of gold, good armor and wepons. You miss out on the thrills of working your way up to better items over time and that takes away from your gaming experience. Of course I also support the idea of starting every new player in a light battlemech and make them work for credits and skills to pilot larger and better Battlemechs. Just my two cents..

I agree here thers no feeling of empowerment when i get to the updated mechs i start with them.

If they do have physical attacks in here I want a Charger. I'll fight in an IS assault mech that moves like a medium and has two battlefists. I love old school mechs.

Can't tell if trolling... or...

Read the thread please. Inner Sphere Omnimechs can't exist until after the clans invade and omnimech technolog is even discovered to exist.

And the Bushwhacker isn't able to be produced until post-clan invasion for the already stated reasons earlier in the thread.

I know it's 8 pages, but thumbing through them doesn't take THAT long... seriously.

On topic: I'd like the Highlander, that's all, I'll be overjoyed with whatever mechs are included at launch but if the Highlander makes the cut.. I'll be extatic.

Wait until the FedCom Civil War and Jihad era (may they both be crushed earlier than in cannon). The invasion starts just as the IS technological base explodes, so we're going to go from a century of fairly tame tech to some really crazy stuff in 25 years.

I think that all the mechs available, including variants will be Level 1 tech. It's the easiest way to balance things. Otherwise most will just go for the few that have any Level 2 tech. It may well be that the "new" goodies won't be available even in the mechlab until the game has "bedded in".

The only level 2 tech that isnt availble at this time (3049) are:
Streak srm 4 and 6
Ultra 2, 10, and 20 autocannons
Lbx 2, 5, and 20 autocannons
ER medium and small lasers
Everything else is in, i beleive.

and most of the IS level 2 tech availible isn't THAT much of an improvement yet, for example, isERPPC range is 5 higher, but has 5 more heat and does the same damage as normal PPC

Nope, the Bushwacker is a non-functional prototype and ATM's are a Clan invention from 3054 (even then it's only seen in the Clan homeworlds). And before you ask, the Clan homeworlds aren't visible on the MW4 map.

I can see alot of people running a Hunchback HBK-4P, replaces the AC/20 with 6 Medium Lasers, and with 23 HS, it should be able to fire all 8 Lasers in an Alpha Strike while only incurring 1 point of additional HEAT. 2x the DAM of an AC/20 without having to worry about ammuntion explosions!

You listed the Ymir? Seriously? That BattleMech has been out of production for four hundred years, and Coventry Metal Works didn't conjure up the -3A upgrade until after they resumed production circa 3075. You might find a -X1, -2B, or even a -2E in a museum somewhere, but I'd no more expect to see one on the 3048 battlefield than a vintage Hammerhands.

Not that I'd mind piloting an Age of War BattleMech; the Helepolis, Toro, and Von Rohrs are personal favorites of mine (pity all three are extinct).

Anything That old could always be plugged in by beng found in a Brian Castle or dug up from some cache some where.
