Without Streak Missiles or ATM Mediums, Missiles are not that appealing to me so unless I can modify a Catapult to the K-2 Variant I'd have to either go with the

Jagermech or Mauler.

The Highlander SL downgrade isn't quite as appealing to me. Until I can master the Highlander Burial. If price will be a factor (and I'm sure it is) I'll have to go with a Jagermech modified with 2 AC10's, more armor and a few (2-4) Med lasers to back it up.

Hmm...

Light: Commando
Medium: Griffin
Heavy: Catapult
Assault: Awesome

There are many other chassis I would love to pilot, but I consider them good 'Mechs to learn the game and the different roles (I know, I don't list a true command 'Mech, but I consider commanding a unit more a matter of skill on the pilot's side, and less a matter of which 'Mech you pilot).

I'm planning on starting with a light mech and staying in the lights. Perhaps an Uller. I'll have to nose around in game to see what's available.

Regardless of if it is a starter 'Mech or not, I will definitely be grabbing me a Commando. Been in love with it ever since MW2: Mercs. :3

Not to shoot down the OP or any other similiar thread however I personally hope there will not be near this many 'mechs available, especially from the get go. The list would become overwhelmingly confusing 'n take a great deal of time & effort. IMO: the list should consist of historical 'mechs **AND** it should be much harder (than in previous games) to attain 'mechs built by a different faction. ^ That would help keep things clean, IMO.
The days of *no heat/unlimited ammo* are done with, we don't need a gagillion mechs to select. If you want to get all logical about it just count the number of 'mechs you hope to have and then imagine creating them in a virtual universe - tough kitties. ;)

After reading through Category:BattleMech roles have concluded that the "light" heavy Dragon suits my purpose as well as, if not better than, the Centurion. With better speed and armor with the trade off being an AC/5 instead of an AC/10 one could see it as a Cent's slightly bigger brother. Fast enough run with the scouts and enough fire and staying power to cover their retreat. Thinking about it more it makes the Cent almost redundant except in the times one is tonnage restricted. And neither have jump jets as that would have been a very good reason to take a Cent over a Dragon.

Bane, While you all go for the speed and whatever reason you chose your mech, I want to try the 100 ton with 10 AC2 beast.

And no one else has chosen it so far lol.

Bane(Kraken) appears to be a Clan Mech so you'll need to sit out of the game for the next year. See you then.

Is there a currently available (Pre-3050) Inner Sphere 'Mech you'd settle for in the meantime?

Light: Commando-1B
Medium: Shadow Hawk-5M
Heavy: Flashman-8K
Assault: Devastator-2

I would love to see these 4 mechs in game at launch, but I know that's not happening. :)

I" going for the heavier end of Light mechs or a medium mech.

More specifically, if I have that choice, a Panther or an Assassin.

Even better if they had all the mechs from MW2 mercenaries available as starters. Enough choice for everyone !
