I don't think your going to start in a Flea, and work up to an Atlas. The Devs said it wont work like this. I think you'll start with 'X' amount of C-bills and be able to buy whatever Battlemech you can afford, or spend real life money to buy whichever chassis you so wish. The more important factor will be picking which role you want to play as, and focusing your pilot and upgrading you mechs,

No surprise here. Just give me a fast, jump capable and maneuverable mech with twin PPCs/3xErLLs. Thinking alone the lines of the Shadowcat as light, Uzil or Shadow Hawk as a medium or possibly a Katapult for the lighter side of heavies. My dream, however unlikely would be to cut a deal for Mektek's Ares and let the canon be damned!

Thank goodness that they'll be sticking to the canon then.

SInce i feel you'll have to buy or earn better mechs. Id say id like to start with a commando or something like a wasp. but as for one of my mians i'd like to see i want a shadow hawk. THe over the shoulder AC was a fave of mine and hope its in there and not a wussie in its class.

i think the best way it to pick some of the cheapest mechs there are and let us pick which ones to start out with... so most people would be in the smallest mechs there are and its is fair

I somehow doubt that the Prometheus is ever gonna show up again outside of the Unbound scenariobook.
It would be nice to fight it in the Solaris arenas when Burke shows up.

An Uziel, 50 Tons
two ER PPC's and two clan Ultra AC 2's
decent speed and heat sink
And Good fire power, PPC's will melt your cabin and the AC will rock you all day long

Light: Wolfhound
Med: Wolverine
Hvy: Warhammer
Assault: Battlemaster

All post SL/pre 3050 tech, that way you have a point to upgrade from while still having a reasonably good mech.

I'd want a mech like the thug but mounting 2 ER-PPC's, 4 medium pulse lasers , ECM gear , about 14 tons of Ferro-Fibrous armor , enough double heat sinks to keep 75% of the weapons roaring at short range and a top speed of about 75 km/h .

Personally, I think that rather than dictate one mech it would be better to have a certain amount of Cbills to start the game with so that you could choose the best mech for your gaming style. I would expect to be starting in a light mech (something fairly cheap) such as a Commando or a Jenner. Something that could mount all three weapon types (missile, ammo and laser) would be best for someone new to mechwarrior/battletech to get aquainted with the way the battletech universe works.

If I had to choose from the list of confirmed Battlemechs. I would say Catapult. I like being in a support role if I'm not commanding a unit.
Now that being said, if I were leading my Merc. Corp, I would love to have my Cyclops or King Crab.

If they have the Urbie (you know they will, they must after all this talking and petitioning for it!) that we WILL see whole lances, nay, all 12 mechwarriors on a team, using urbies at one point or another.

And it will be GLORIOUS!

First of all you are asking to much for heavy up. so start game is high end light mechs or low end med mech. if i had pick one for this time period it would be the hellspawn as a starter untill i got the money to have a bigger mech. and people who love the daishi. you cant have it till a year time.or more

What?

Quote

Initially called the TRP-1 Trooper when it was introduced as the Free Worlds League's first light scout BattleMech in 2475

In addition, it experienced a revival "with the arrival of the Wolf's Dragoons", and the Wolf's Dragoons showed up in the Inner Sphere in 3005.
