I've had quite a few matches now where engine is destroyed from ammo explosion. I'm in an Atlas. What's strange is that all of my ammo is in the legs and arms. None in the torso. And I'm not running an XL engine. My legs are still intact and my center torso is too. So either the paperdoll isn't updated correctly at the end, somehow the system thinks I have an XL engine with ammo in the torso or the stats at the end are wrong. Anyone else seeing weird stats at the end? To add to that, I used to put ammo in the head and actually died from losing my head due to ammo explosion. Which I think is a first for me. Moved the ammo out after that.

Your weapons can also explode causing internal damage. I assume you have a Gauss or AC in your shoulder?

Damage is not contained in the individual sections, but spills over into the adjoining sections. Legs are attached to the Center Torso. So an ammo explosion does damage to the leg and the spill over hits your core.

I'm pretty sure that a Gauss Rifle exploding shows up as an Ammo Explosion in the end screen stats.

This.

Putting ammo in side torsos with case is never a bad idea if you can fit it. Otherwise you just have to risk it. Case for a single gauss rifle is good too.

You should also notice an extremely high incidence of "Damaged by Fall Damage" (or whatever the wording is, I can't access it right now) in the "last 7 things that damaged you" list, when it's clearly untrue (like being in a Heavy or Assault mech, and not falling off anything during the game, let alone just before you died).

Doesn't leg damage tranfer to their respective internal structure side torso, and then to the center torso internal structure?

Yes. Also, the armor need not be gone. The explosions are internal.

Nope. Look at the model in the mechlab. The center torso covers everything below the neck down to where the legs attach. There is no physical contact between the Side torso's and the legs.

Doesn't change the damage transfer. From the legs, it goes into side, then center.

Mechlab, Paperdoll, and MWO/TT rule set say you are incorrect.

Damage transfers from the leg to the "adjoining" section. The legs are attached to the center torso, not the side torsos.

LB 10-x in the right torso. 3xSRM6 in the left. rest is DHS. I'm wondering if it was the LB then? Though the paperdoll didn't show any internal damage on my center torso.

I thought they were connected to the hip-bone? ^_^

It appears that this is one of those TT-MW:O things where they have adopted the base rule, but differ in actual implementation. Feel free to test it to verify.

Well, you were wrong about how it works in TT, any chance you might be wrong about how it works here?

And I'm not going to get legged to test ^_^

This is the record sheet

Damage transfer is supposed to go from the leg, to the above side torso, then to the center torso.

That being said, an ammo explosion is HUNDREDS of damage, and your sections can only each take a fraction of that amount. An ammo explosion on a leg is very likely to reach up to your CT unless almost all the ammo was expended.

Indeed. If you had a lot of ammo left, perhaps it wrecked all three sections, and the UI just didn't update the paper doll properly. I've seen it report weird things in a couple of games.

It's very feasible that I could be wrong. But the MWO paper doll is significantly different than that TT and the actual mech construction much more so. Having the legs transfer directly into the torso here makes more sense and is in accordance with the spirit of the rule in TT. It also seems to match the OP's observations versus something that would be contrary.
