The latest patch added a number of screen changes that feel cartoony and less realistic and gritty. This makes it less interesting to come back into the game as I no longer leave a game feeling like I was in a battle, I feel I just played a round of Quake or Unreal...

Slick and shiny: (instead of quick and useful)
The new team list screen doesn't help, it's slick and shining, but hard to read and get info from quickly.

When you press TAB you have to WAIT for the slick animated team screen to show up. This makes it less useful in a fight, if you want a quick status update on your team mates. (ie, how many are still alive, should I stay in this brawl, or run, is my last teammate on my left an Atlas or a spider, etc...)

SUGGESTION: Give us settings to turn any new slick stuff off or on.

A simple check box for disabling/enabling animated menus/screen transitions, globally. I don't want animated stuff on any of my interfaces, it's fluff to have to wade through, and it's not realistic on a military equipment. (this is _supposed_ to be mech simulator.)

Death screen: (again, slick and shiny)
I don't want an animated death screen, (at least in it's current state) it takes me out of the game both actually and figuratively. I want to stay in the feeling that I am at a war, not playing a silly kids game.

The floaty 360 turn around my corpse after I die p*sses me off, and makes me feel both stupid for dying, and that I was just playing a kids game, and "oops your dead". How about cracking the screen, spray a little spit and blood on it, and show my pilot laying there. Or drop the camera view next to the mech in the dirt, motionless. That would be awesome, not cute and "cool" looking.

The entire game screams action, feeling the pulses and shocks, make the end screen the same.

SUGGESTION:
How about having the cockpit actually explode? Then cut to the dead mech? Anything that's not cartoony or feels like a kiddy game of Quake...

btw: THANK YOU for fixing the shut down bugs.

YES... cartoony. If you don't mind I will use that comparison to express what I have been trying to say in threads like this one: http://mwomercs.com/...30#entry1851330

This was never supposed to be call of robots.
If you want mud, brown, bloom, and blur, there are plenty of games out there for you already.

I like the current implementation better.

I don't really care how cartoony the UI is, but... it does make the game's ultrabland colors and general blurriness stand out even more.

Of course, that's probably more of an indication that there's a problem with the graphics, not the UI.

What is this global fascination with brown and grime?

I'd like more weather conditions to change the maps up a bit. Wish forest colony would clear up like it use be sometimes, but wish caldera had sand storms sometimes to make it look even more gritty.

It's a WAR SIMULATOR, explosions, lasers, missles, more explosions. Then "woopdido, your dead."

It's not the _colors_ that I take issue with, I like the upgrade to the colors and lightness, it's the _silliness_ of the new changes.

Thats not what hes asking for... I miss the old ability to hit tab and instantly get the team status.. having to wait a second is annoying.. Also going to have to agree on the spinning camera around the mech..

Absolutely agree with your post... *sigh*. I am now less drawn back into playing another round after that screen.

Ten years of 'real' games being brown and bloom has made it so people think you can't have colors in war. A gritty, manly, grown up game, that's overflowing with testosterone, simply isn't so if it's in color.

Then it's like a nintendo game, or my little pony. Color isn't for men.

Yes;

-End of game screen takes too long to pop (why change it from 3 seconds to 20)
-Animated scoreboard (less useful now that it takes 3 seconds to pop - used to see whos alive)
-Allied name colors too dark - impossible to read on frozen city daytime.

At least the patch added more color on the game itself.

The animation will be gone. Don't bother mentioning it. The feedback thread has 50+ posts on this.

Wow I hope this can get back arguing for/against my origiunal point. ITS NOT THE COLORS! It's the FEELING of the silly spinning and animated interface elements that remove you from being in a mech simulator to a console kids shooter.

I can see where you're coming from, TS.

The more gritty and bloody this game is, the better. I don't want it to feel like Quake 3 or some Transformers game.

Wait so a game set in the far off future featuring big stompy robots can't have a slick and fancy looking stuff? What is with the supposed delay to when hitting tab, I don't see any delay in the score board coming up.

As far as delays are concerned the only thing I can think of is the map screen coming up which makes sense considering well you are pulling up a pretend map to reference while driving a pretend robot. Imagine you *tickatackatick* a keypad and BAM map
