Just got an email about the "HUGE February Patch!", and it screamed desperation.

I thought this game was doing well. Do they really need to blast my inbox with ads about new things I can buy or grind forever for? I'd much rather they focus on the actual game mechanics.

But if this is a sign of the state of the playerbase / income, then I don't see this game succeeding much past beta. (Why are we still in beta anyway?) I see this game going the way of SMNC very quickly. Cranking the Pay 2 Win dial to 11 isn't the way to make this game a success. Unfortunately, it seems as if this game will be doing just that. I for one find the F2P but P2W model to be one of the worst things to happen to gaming in general. It's sad to see it destroy yet another of my favorite franchises.

A hero mech with those stats vs. a starting mech for a player who doesn't pay real money.
I wonder who has the advantage.

Founder gonna founder though. Keep those blinders on.

I second Vassago Rain. Are you talking about a completely different game? Because the MWO I'm playing doesn't have anything P2W about it...

Uhhh, probably the free mech.

Because pretty baby is worse than the commando hero, and the commando here is one of the worst mechs EVER. Are you seriously so uninformed you think the hero mechs are good?

It's a time advantage, nothing more. Almost every F2P game I can think of has it. That doesn't make it P2W at all.

You have reduced my leik of mudkips.

there's no pay to win here. These things are all gotta catch 'em all perks for people who don't mind spending money on things that have no real impact on in game performance.

None of the Hero Mechs are the 'best in class', most are actually inferior to the standard builds. Pretty Baby has an energy mount in the HEAD ferchristsake.

I can attest to the Baby not being pay to win.

I like people complaining about their inbox being "blasted" (Really?) from a newsletter they subscribed to.

Okay... "You" checked (or failed to un-check... don't remember) send me newsletters and updates news alerts, so that email is nothing new or "desperate".

Secondly, Wat?

I haven't played the Pretty Baby, but its base Armament doesn't look all that powerful, 1 PPC, 1 LL, 1 Med, 1 LRM15, 1SRM4.

Maybe if we were back to base armor amounts, but current stuff, nah.

Pretty baby has 4 tubes on one arm, which is the only place on the whole mech where it has multiple hardpoints. It gets one laser on the other arm, one in a side torso, and the remaining side torso has a single missile slot. Let's not get into the head energy slot on a 30 dollar mech.

Knob has about the same firepower.

So yes, baby's terrible. It's taken the throne from Neal. Try playng the game before you whine.

I disagree!

Pretty Baby is P2W!

Runs around at 81kph (before tweak) with 60 point alphas!
Much like the 9M..only 4ish kph faster and no ability to hide the thing.. except in a Carnival or Fairground.

Um, dude? I've taken on a few Pretty Babies in my AWS-8Q, done quite well. The mech is a unique variant, not a superior build. Honestly, I've seen more threads saying it's underpowered than anything else.

What mech are you piloting against it to think it's so OP?

Yes, that 30% bonus to cbill gain is so OP. Because clearly the more cbills you have, the more damage you do ingame.
