Bah, Comstar. I never did trust them after their intervention during the 4th Succession War, and the supposed 'attack' of one of their facilities, by the AFFS.

Plus, how did the Death Commandos attack New Avalon, when both Micheal Hasek-Davion and Justin Allard both confirmed they'd been sent to my homeworld of Kathil at the time.

I never did like that Julian Tiepolo, and I like this Myndo Waterly even less.

Yeah, and before humanity even left Terra some people thought the end of the world would come in 2012 because some centuries dead indigenous tribe of the American continent didn't bother to make calendars going any further than that.

Basically there'll always be someone who'll believe any crazy crap so long as some delusional or opportunistic person tells it to them with enough conviction. Humanity wants to be tricked, cheated and hoodwinked. Invasion from beyond the periphery indeed. What would those backwater yokels in the periphery and deep periphery (ain't nothing out there beyond that) invade with? Sticks and stones and harsh language?

Quote

Adrienne Sims died abruptly in her sleep in 2979. While she had weakened as her visions became more frequent and pronounced, her death was still unexpected and she had not named a successor. After ordering her body cremated and her ashes scattered in deep space by an Explorer Corps JumpShip, the First Circuit selected Yin Takami from their number to the post.

The most lasting effect of Sims' tenure as Primus was the introduction of the Explorer Corps. While a public relations boon, enhancing the Order's scientific knowledge, it also allowed ComStar to recover untouched SLDF caches and ensure further expansion of the Word of Blake. However, while she hoped it would prevent the future predicted by her terrible visions, it was among the greatest ironies that the Corps in fact triggered the Clan Invasion when the Outbound Light discovered Huntress in 3049.
While few believe Sims possessed true psychic powers, letters and notes from Sims on her visions feature frighteningly specific descriptions of a horde of strange monsters that can be interpreted as the insignia of the Clans, including a "metallic viper" (Clan Steel Viper), the "emerald birds of death" (Clan Jade Falcon), the demon horses (Clan Hell's Horses) and a "six-legged bear" (Clan Ghost Bear).
Canon Rumors hold that Sims' "visions" actually stem from knowledge of the Clans supplied by elements of the Annihilated Clan Wolverine harbored by ComStar.

There's some that think a kind of DNA absorbing monster out there that has turned Kerensky's followers into some kinda alien-human hybrid. And I thought the History channel was bad!

The funny thing about the Clan invasion is that it wasn't really that bad. The Succession wars had much more casualties.

The only thing wierd about the clans were the free love communist nature of them. Their technology was better, but if they ever stopped blowing up colleges, it was only about 30 years of improvement, maybe not even that. They sure didn't know how to fight wars either, just duels.

So they're like hippy, communist, duelists that have been chillin' in the deep periphery waiting to get revenge on an inner sphere that has forgotten them.

The Clans are incredibly lame...

The clans are not communist. To be communist everything has to be owned by the workers, through cooperatives, and everybody shares the burden of providing healthcare, education and welfare.

The clans are more likely socialist as their government owns the large industries and provides the health, education and welfare.

Since the military is the government the clans are best described as an socialist stratocracy.
