I love the new system for the paints, it was a step in the right direction. However, I still think the patterns need another look over. Here is why. Eventually we are going to have 30+ patterns and and it's going to cost a lot of money to "collect them all." As the prices stand it would cost over 30,000MC to get all of the patterns unlocked IF purchasing it unlocked it for all mechs and the IF the prices stayed put. I feel like the pricing model is set for a short term system. In the long run I'll be buying up more MC if I get more content for my money

Mechs are too pricey, paints are too pricey.

Apparently PGI should just clap their hands together and money will magically appear...

The game needs to be funded, if it's through vanity items that's an acceptable (because it does not impact the game) solution.

My advice to the whingers would be to hold your MC tight until Go Live, if you don't like surprises.

this thread isn't about that, this thread is for people who did spend money under the old system, but now aren't going to spend money (or spend less money) under the new system

it's absolutely great that some people now have what they wanted and are now spending money that they didn't before

it's a shame that some of us that spend money gladly under the old system now have to either spend a lot more money under the new system for the same thing, or spend nothing and live with a far more limited set of colours

some of us want both sets of options, like they've done for patterns

I prefer the new systen to the old. It is way cheaper to paint my mechs now than I paid previously. I think it was a win/win but some people like to ***** no matter what.

Good poll, Apoc. Just noting that because it's rare to see someone cover all the perspectives properly in a poll, but it looks like you did a good job of that and provided three questions that will deliver a pretty comprehensive view of the sentiments on this topic.

I have not bought any MC colors yet under the new scheme, but it is not a pricing issue. None of the current patterns really appeal to me (they're all very "noisey")- and since they're as expensive as they are, I want to wait for one that really stands out.

I assume this is their long term objective. Make each customization relatively expensive, but to have so much content that basically everyone can find one thing that is "too cool to resist".

Thankyou.

Personal opinion aside, I'm interested to see if there's a market where single use at lower prices can co-exist with unlockable content and actually feed in to each other.

As you mention in your other thread on general pricing - low cost single use paints were a low barrier to entry that could encourage users to not only buy some MC in the first place, but lead them on to paying the higher prices for unlockable content once they've acquired a taste.

I really like the new system of colour unlocks. This is the way it should have been from the start.

Definitely going to buy some half price paints. I am still deciding which ones. I do hope they come out with some 4 tone patterns though.

Bought zero paints in the old system, bought zero paints in the new.

I'll buy some when they're both cheaper and unlocked. Till then i'll make do with PCGamer patterns and colours.

Edit: My MC purchases have been limited to mech bays (total 14 now) and premie time. I might buy a colour bundle if there's a hefty discount attached. I'm very patient.

I prefer the new system, way more on mark. I still feel that MC are far too expensive per dollar- I'm worried that they'll go the same way as Tribes Ascend went- too expensive to sell anything. My time is very valuable, but hell, I'm not willing to buy mechs at that price!Only mechs I bought with MC was a Dragon (just after the final reset and I didn't realize how much my MC was worth), and the Awesome and Hunchback in the recent sale. Half price, I believe, is a perfect starting price for everything in the game at the moment.

I'd buy stuff at that price point.

I bought camo for maybe 4 mechs under the old system. It was very expensive, and not convenient. The selection was also very poor.

Now I picked up all the basics, white, a light grey, and I had the PC gamer colors since before. Pretty much all my mechs are painted, and I've spent less MC than previously.

Very tempted to buy the neons, which would be a GAIN in income for PGI, and a gain in FUN for me. So good job. The only people who are mad are those who ran their two mechs, and had them as the only blinged-out mechs they owned.

Different people have difference price tolerances. I'm surprised people have to have this explained to them.

I bought the colors that were on sale, I also bought the on sale dazzle scheme for the Catapult... then I bought a few more colors as well.

all said an done I spent about 8000MC under the new Camo Spec system... on the old system I just painted 2 mechs, totalling about 1000MC

I spent only Cbills and PC Gamer colors. With perm unlocks I blew nearly all of my founders (roughly 14000MC) on paints for my wife to pretty up my mechs.

I'm sorry, high prices simply drive me away. 1,000,000 cbills for a "cheap" ugly paint job... really? (a top engine only cost 5 mill. cb) $5 real money for a color? Are you serious? $30+ for a single mech... nope. I know the hard core fan base contains individuals willing to pay those prices, but I think the general game playing public will laugh it off and move on. The prices are 5X what they should be. At current prices, $30 should be 30,000 MC not 6000. Just my 30+ years of gaming experience talking... yeah, I had a Pong.

What I'm hoping is that, when Clan warfare starts, there will be ways to win colors and patterns from events. Nothing terribly common, but maybe 4 or 5 times a year, you could win 5 or 6 colors, or a pattern.

I bought a small selection of paints, some of them were on sale. I think I have the most important ones I want for now. I think the current prices are still a bit high, but I definitely was not willing to buy any of the previous, non-unlockable paints. And I'll probably never do.

I am still not convinced of buying any of the camos. Unlocking for just mech (even if all its variants) seems still a bit steep at the current price point. I just use too many different mechs.
