You can play if you restart the client afer EVERY match.

OK, this is no real solution, but the only way to not crash that often if you are one of the victims of the freeze frame bug.

Try ESC then alt-tab twice then ESC again.

Same here, had it mostly on forest as well.

Anyway, I limited my fps to 45 using a user.cfg entry, no crash since.

sys_MaxFPS = 45

the higher the framerate the higher the chance of freeze it seems.

Flapdrol is right. Since i use his modification on the user.cfg i never had a freeze again.

But the movement is more jerky now cause of the lower framerate. What ever.... better than that freeze bug over and over again.

BTW: Is there a description of all params of the user.cfg?

I have a workaround for this somewhat, based off of

Ditto. Never froze until this patch. Don't know why my driver number is so different, but I'm on 9.18.13.1090, which was up to date as of 12/29/2012.

Sorta glad I'm not the only one.

I will try dumping shader cache and c alt+tab and see if that helps.

I would tread carefully on other shader files.

Worked for 2 days now deleting the cache folder. Now i am experiencing the freeze in the game again... FIX IT PLEASE!

If you go into your install location for MWO then /USER/Shaders/, and delete the "Cache" folder, it will temporarily fix the problem. Works for 10+ games minimum for me usually, then go back and delete it again, and works for another 10+ games. Just restarting the game w/o deleting the cache will usually only get me through 1 or 2 games, and sometimes will freeze on the 1st game back in. So it definitely helps.

Made a .bat

Quote

RMDIR /s /q "E:\MWO\MechWarrior Online\MechWarrior Online\USER\Shaders\Cache"
CD E:\MWO\MechWarrior Online\MechWarrior Online\Bin32\
MechWarriorOnline.exe

Copy then paste that into notepad, replace the locations with your install location, then save the document as MWO.bat and make sure file type is set to all files.

If you use steam, like I do,
1. steam.exe needs to be set to run as admin(Properties>compatibility settings)
2. gameoverlayui.exe needs to be set to run as admin(Properties>compatibility settings)
3. You'll need your customized .bat and this: (http://download.cnet...4-10555897.html)
4. After testing your batch file open the converter application(32-bit, regardles of ver. of windows)
5. Select your batch file and output folder
6. Set visibility option to Invisible and check "Add administrator manifest"
7. Make sure you disable any anti-virus active protection, as the creation of the .exe looks like a trojan at least to MSE
8. Compile your exe
9. test your new exe
10. re-enable your Anti-Virus
11. Go into steam and add your new .exe as a game, or edit the existing entry for MW:O you already had so the Target location is the exe itself(in quotes) and the Start In location is the folder that houses your new .exe

Works for me. Just forcing steam to use the .bat would open MWO and clear the shader cache, but wouldn't let the overlay start.

Doesn't work for me... Says "MechWarriorOnline.exe is not recognized as an internal or external comman, operable program or batch file."
Paths are correct... What do you mean by "make sure file type is set to all files?!?!

Adding sys_MaxFPS = 45 (50 in my case) has stopped these freeze-ups. Took it out for one match after today's patch and it froze again.

Put in user.cfg where x is the max FPS you want then save the file and restart the client if it's open. I've found 50 to work for me.

sys_MaxFPS = x

Using sys_MaxFPS = 60 has solved all of my freeze-ups.

For me the workaround with the Shader-Folder worked.
I also created a bat-file and it works fine for now as i can say.
Well, lets see when they can fix the issue :-)
But for now: Many thanks for the help here!

hey I found a fix:

1. Open shaders, Cache, D3D9.

2. you should see something called "lookupdata", and it will have a cone icon; You will need to delete it after every round.

Simple as that! Sort of...

Edit: Sorry, not tiring to forum bump(if that's what its called).

Edit 2: THIS IS GETTING RIDICULOUS I CAN'T EVEN PLAY THE GAME ANY MORE!!!! EVERY GAME IT FREEZES, NO MATER WHAT I DO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
