It will die down once it stops airing, but I think it will always be out there just like great cartoons such as Power Puff Girls, Dexter's Lab and Johnny Bravo and someone will always reference back to them.

This "fad" has been going on over a year already, and has only shown a continuous increase in interest. Not to mention season 2 is barely halfway done, and season 3 is already confirmed.

Might want to build yourself a bomb shelter with no internet if you find ponies bothersome.

I am going to err on the side of "Bronies" and MLP:FiM-style ponies being FAR, FAR, FAAAAR more than a fad or a meme. It's a culture now (at least it is to me) because people are known to identify themselves as being a brony or "liking ponies". I know I do. For the folks who still identify it as a meme, yeah, I can certainly understand it when you get frustrated over it getting "old" or being "overused". However, at this point, a lot of it is just people expressing themselves (their love of brony culture).

Of course every sort of goings-on doesn't last forever, but this is going to be around probably as long as Star Wars has.

And yeah, 48 pages is nothing. If we were to equate Equestria Daily to having only 3-5 posting users, then it is a forum thread with 100 million views with multiple posts every day, and a page for every day. Not including the sheer volume of comments, those would make, like, a million pages.

I honestly don't get people. Really. Before I liked MLP and was one of those "arrgh it's here TOO?" people, I just ignored the threads I saw and carried on. It's not that hard. I don't care for all the Star Trek vs Battlestar vs whatever threads, so I don't go to those. I don't go whine harder than Rarity in them.

I suppose when people start to use something to identify themselves it's moved past meme. I don't think I ever saw anypony go around saying, "Yeah, I'm a nyany." (nyaner? nyanite? I like nyanite.) Maybe if you are seeing ponies everywhere, you should wonder why something you don't like has so much demographical overlap with the things you spend your time doing. After that has settled into your psyche like the left hook of an epiphany, maybe you'll sit down and watch a cool show.
