>good natured
>poking fun

To be perfectly honest, I dont see how you could possibly believe what you just said.

If you want to talk all things Pony.. then why not go to a PONY FORUM.. ?
Because we all like Battletech, and we all like ponies.
Also, dedicated pony forums tend to be hugbox-fest

Just curious... don't hate.. just wondering why the love of a cartoon for 6 year old girls.... ? Its kinda creepy.
You don't have to understand, just accept and move on.

I mean I like Penguins of Madagascar, but don't feel compelled to waste a thread on a forum NOT DEDICATED To it.. Just sayin. This is a forum for MW:O not My Little Pony.. its a meme thats gotten out of hand internet wide.
This is more than a meme, this is a subculture. This is also the Off-Topic section, for things that DONT PERTAIN TO MW:O

Did I mention its a little creepy for any boy (especailly those older than say 13) or man (of any age) to even be interested in the show, much less infatuated with it..?
I find it a little creepy you keep coming into this thread showing your disdain for the show.

(Einstein quote here)

Again not trying to troll.. just wondering why every forum on the net has to be a place to talk all things Pony. Isn't there a forum dedicated to PONY that you guys could go to..?
See above.

Latest episode was pretty darn good. I especially loved the barking pony bit.

In other news... (future episode synopsis in spoilers for those who don't want to read them.)
Spoiler

I hope it goes the way of AJ's episodes and actually focuses on a pony that matters.

I'm not going to say I am in love with it, and by no meens infatuated either, speaking for my self. However I do like the MLP meme's, yes they are everywhere but a large part of them are really damn funny. Have I watched MLP:FM before? Yes. Do I watch it regularly? No. I do out of sheer curiosity and because its really not that bad, which suprised me greatly. Even though the "target adiance is 6 year old girls," there are a lot, and I meen a lot of hidden things the creators put in there that would make you go "I can't believe they did that."

EXAMPLE!!

Take a look at this little guy. Now what do you see? If you say just a little purple and green dragon with a stylen white hat with a feather in it then you clearly did not get it. He is a PURPLE and GREEN dragon in a STYLING WHITE HAT with a FEATHER sticking out the top who's name is SPIKE and "hangs out" with six girls named: Pinky Pie, Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, Rarity, Apple Jack, and Twighlight Sparke... Do I even need to tell you what this looks like now?!

Well done, Aresye! Strikes a happy note for me to say that I am at least somewhat acquainted with ya, who is very much a contributing member of the community.
Hopefully, I'll turnabout something good for bronies eventually.

I feel like I will be wasting my time trying to put this logically, but perhaps you will surprise me and actually be willing to see the bigger picture of what the whole pony obsession thing is.

Let's take a step back and analyze the cartoon industry. Simply put, it sucks today. Cartoons overall have really degraded into either a one demographic show, or are horrendous reruns of once great cartoons. Ever watch Strawberry Shortcake? I've had to suffer through enough of those episodes as an older teenager while babysitting my younger brothers and sisters. It's target demographic? Girls aged 3-10. Family Guy on the other hand, is also a one demographic show, which is older teenagers and young adults. Unfortunately, it's appeal is based off of crude humor and adult material, so it would be innappropriate for kids to watch.

What's the purpose of a critic? Is it to praise or slam a show/movie because of your own opinion? Well, for the many people out there who think everybody is a critic, I guess that would be a yes, however "professional," critics of movies and shows, are trained to analyze movies and shows in ways that most people don't see. Their scores are based off of many aspects your average movie-goer doesn't see, such as chiaroscuro, or mise en scene.

Now, I'm not a professional critic, but I did take 3 years of classes revolved around the study of film and film direction. Does that make me enjoy certain shows more? Probably. After all, my favorite movie is Mulholland Drive, which your average movie-goer would probably despise. I enjoy it because of all the directing tricks used in the movie, which are truly fascinating.

Anyway, without making this much longer, here's my point:

From a show quality standpoint, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, is a high-quality show, and that's backed by professional critics, and of course, the large following it's garnished. If you drop all bias and gender-sterotyping, what you have is:

- Highly Experienced Developers (Lauren Faust, Jayson Thiessen)
- Well Known and Highly Respected Voice Actors/Actresses (Tara Strong, Ashleigh Ball, Tabitha St. Germain)
- Incredibly Detailed and Smooth Animation
- Clever Camera Tricks
Ex:
(That's the main antagonist showing in a split second panning through the hour glass, when normally it was just a statue.)
Posted Image
- Adult References (Alcohol Jokes, Old Movies, etc.)

The show's creators stated they wanted to make a show that was entertaining for both the target audience of young girls, and the parents too. Funny thing about that is, does making something entertaining for adult parents automatically make it not entertaining for adults who are not parents? Nope, and thus you have the large following of teenage and young adults who enjoy the show as well.

So why the large topic? Why the constant push of pony love internet wide? Well my friend, for that, the haters are mostly responsible.

I personally watch the show because of it's good natured quality, and all the above traits. Unfortunately, people like you (and the rest of the haters) see fit to try and tell me what is acceptable for me to watch or not, and that attempt at control is completely based off their own stereotyped bias.

I see absolutely no reason why people should have any feelings of shame for watching this show. From a critic's standpoint, it's solid. The only negative things said about the show, come from STEREOTYPES, and people's fear of watching it and/or seeing the need to lash out at those that do watch it, is completely based on that bias, which is a grade school mentality of pink things are girly, real men do violent and manly stuff, drink, etc. Which I personally think is pathetic.

So give yourself a pat on the back haters. If it wasn't for your constant attempts to berate those for watching a show because of your own grade school mindset, then we never would have banded together and created a community showing an appreciation for those that do enjoy the show, open-minded and unafraid of public perception.

TL:DR Version
If people didn't base their lives around stereotypes and judge people by them, then Friendship is Magic would be just like any other cartoon out there.

Good job haters!

Peace!

P.S. I find it rather intriguing that our mere presense on this forum annoys you so much. It's quite fascinating to see how people's bias and prejudice can make them angry and/or uncomfortable, simply because a person doesn't share the same mindset. Ever thought of stepping back and looking at the big picture to see what you're actually getting worked up over?

Everytime I see a hater on here it reminds me of my psychology course in college and the day the professor explain why most men act the way they do when something "girly" intrudes on there manliness.

Basicly it boils down to social peer presure and the adolescent mentality of trying to be as manly and cool as possible in hopes of attracting a female mate for a chance to procreate.

When men get into groups most want to try to be the alpha and try to do things that are socially acceptable within that group. normaly drinking beer, watching sports games, ect. anything girly contradicts that type of thinking and is seen as being weak or feminine. males that are seen as weak or feminine in groups are normaly picked on or belittled because they are seen as inferior and easy prey. So some get into a habit of picking on anything that contradicts there way of thinking of how a man should act. This way of thinking is also strengthened with the need/want to find a female to procreate with. when a guy is seen as feminine or weak by a female they could be seen as inadequate to be said mate for procreation, so any thought or behavior towards being girly/feminine must be stoped.

This mentality of thinking is mostly adolescent and is strongest in young males when testosterone is at its highest.

Most men get past this type of thinking because they become comfortable with there hetero life style and have learned some feminine traits and thinking is accepted. While others simply can not get past the way of thinking anything feminine in nature that invades there so called manly ways is seen as bad.

What astonishes me is the fact that easily a quarter, probably more, of the posts in this thread are trollers asking "why" and us answering "why not". So, to all of the trollers out there: please read this thread from the beginning BEFORE posting. I really don't like having to repeat myself over and over again, and I'm sure the rest of this community does as well.

Perhaps... I just know that when I watched my first episode I really wasnt expecting much and then found that I really like Fluttershy, she is just so adorible you can't help it. Pluse, finding out that she can take down bears, sculd a dragons to the pointing of wetting its self and staring down some monster thing souless, which no other can, you have to admite, thats all kinds of awesome. After watching it I started to ponder and think about the whole MLP thing, and after a time I concluded that...

Fair enough.. but the only reason I am here is because someone had started a thread for us "haters" to have fun hating on MLP:FIM on our own thread.. and it was taken down after 6 posts. While this one has gone on 63 pages now..

"To have fun hating"

That is the basic definition of trolling.

That thread had no other purpose than to troll us, and even if it hadn't been locked, it would have devolved into a bunch of trolls screaming about how cool they are for hating MLP, and how we are all lesser men.

Could it be that your just able to accept Sillyness for sillynesses(nessii?) sake? Clan Black Sheep has a long history of doing that which isnt of the 'Norm'. I mean Clanners that talk in contractions, dont say 'aff' or 'neg' or *insert Clanner word here' just because it made the staunch roleplayers get bent outta shape? We dont have any official Canon standing but can you see ANY Government not having a Special Forces that the Majority of the population has no Idea about who they are, what they do and how they go about doing it?

Just live with it Chuckie. There are plenty of other Topics on these forums making it that much easier to ignore one of your own violition. Now I could see being upset if someone put a gun to your head and said 'Read this Forum Topic or DIE!!', but thats not the case. At least I hope not. Tho I wouldnt put it past some of the Bronies here doing just that.
In Short: Relax Man! If it doesnt directly impact you its nothing to get worked up over.

Oh and Yes your becoming Infected.

Nah, it's just being open-minded enough to appreciate humor even in things you don't particularly like.

Tread lightly. You might become open-minded enough to give the show a shot someday. We all know where that leads.

No regrets though.

All things lead to pony. Was watching some mechwarrior stuff like the old intros (I'd forgotted how epic MechCommanders FMV was) and I eventually ended up at one vid that had like twenty pony vids in the suggestions.
