The 4J seems to be the 4SP's unlikable cousin, but the hardpoints allow for some interesting load-outs.
Something I've been experimenting with:
3 x Med Laser (head + arms)
1 x ER PPC (R Torso)
1 x LRM10
2 tons LRM ammo
15 DHS
Std Engine 200
Weird mix of weapons, but there is a plan!
The LRM10 and ER PPC offer long-range firepower. This is what the 4J's intended for, but up against an ECM heavy team, it doesn't stand a chance. Swapping an LRM10 for an ER PPC allows indirect fire if the opportunity's there, or PPC sniping.
When the fight inevitably turns to a brawl, at under 250m, the PPC and MLAS let you stay in the fight, and cycling the MLAS keeps the heat down.
Bit of a 'jack of all trades, master of none' but a lot of fun to play.

I equipped my with
1x LRM 20 + Artemis (3t ammo)
4x Med Lasers
1x AMS (1t ammo)
STD 200 Engine
14 DHS
I'm spamming LRMs most of the time and the 4 MLas is enough to kill some lights / cicadas that close in because they see me firing LRMs and think I'm an easy prey or going brawling after I'm out of ammo and finish the last mechs

I've been running my 4J with the following:
MLas x3 (All in the Right Torso)
TAG x1 (Right arm)
LLas x1 (Left arm)
LRM15 x1 (3 tons of ammo, Artemis)
Beagle Active Probe
Endo Steel
13 DHS
STD 200 Engine
304 armor
My thought process was that the 4J was never meant to boat LRMs, it was more there for mid-range support fire. I keep myself moving around the middle of the pack, always sticking with an Assualt or Heavy mech. The LRMs soften up the targets from afar, and I can help out other teammates who are in a pinch with some indirect fire support and the TAG laser. Most of my damage come from the Large Laser and Medium Lasers. I keep the MLas x3 all in the torso and fire them together, so the damage ends up focusing on a single spot on my target. Because of the size of the hunch (where the LRMs and MLas are), I keep the Large Laser on the other arm. That way, I can still deal some damage even if I lose the rest of my loadout. The Double Heat Sinks do a terrific job of keeping my heat down, even on Caustic Valley, so I can keep up the fire without needing to pause and cool off.
I try to stay around 200 to 300 meters from my targets, which allow me to get all my weapons firing (even if the MLas doesn't do it's full damage at 300 meters).
