Some fast advice;
1 Lag shield- simple shoot ahead of the mech and you hit it not hard but requires skill
2 SRM Cats - simple shoot off arms or aim for the GIANT COCKPIT (requires some skill)
3 Next FotM - simple kill it.

My advice is master a mech skill wise before moving on to another type. Aside from my LRM boat I average 650 damage per game in any mech. That includes a spider (normal game is around 475+) so please learn a mech modify it to your liking master it and watch others mechs melt.

Its a team game play as a team, if you are a sniper warn the team, tell them you are taking position at X place. Iff you are a scout tell them were you are scouting and report incoming mechs. If you are a brawler make sure you have maxed out armor and can alpha like a champ without overheating in 4 alphas or less. If you are a LRM boat take TAG and make sure to tell the team you are a LRM boat (for that I normally say LRM arte tag boat). Even in pugs I get some medium mech that will pipe up with I will defend the boat. And guess what when that pesky light comes in to the base I have a mech to defend and its a quick kill.

Pick a role many mechs allow you to be flexible also the top tier engine is not always the best for a mech. While it may help with torso twist speed that extra weight from a couple down can be used to fix little problems you are having with a mech be it heat lack of firepower ammo running out etc...

I put a lot of time in this game as they are fast and allow me to get many in, while I have the luxury of being a stay at home dad I can at least give some advise I have learned here and there.

While there seems to be an unsaid Meta for certain maps break it. The game is not about rushing the team to get killed but to use some strategy. Please get used to using strategy now not later. Alpine is coming very soon and it will be a large map you will not just be able to rush and kill. Positions will play a large role so will scouting.

TL;DR just read it and don't be lazy!

BEST Advice if you are going to pug ...... TYPE talk to your team I do it all the time and guess what we win a lot more if we do. Say who you are targeting , its quick and you can do it between an alpha strike and recycle time. :)

Good advice, but I'll bet it falls on deaf ears. I've played match after match where the pugs won't work together. Even if they are told that they're with a premade, they ignore any advice given and go off to die; losing us the match. Can't wait for ELO so I don't have to play with people who won't play as a team.
