I played with 7.1 Surround Sound on all day yesterday. I didn't experience even a single issue of buzzing or sound cut-off.
As far as my machine and configuration goes, it seems to be fixed now.

I'll have to try this later tonight, been running the 7.1 headphones in 5.1 to workaround the bug.

Update, it does seem like it's working ok now. I haven't noticed any major issues. I played most of last night without issue.
