I frequently see on TeamSpeak that everybody has that one damn map that they just really don't like for one reason or another. The most frequent one is River City Night -- it seems to be really unpopular. It would be the one I would opt out of, because I've realized that I'm not a fan of

Can We "opt Out" Of One Map?

I was just curious if it would be possible to let us have an option to opt out of one map. So the matchmaker never attempts to place us on that map. If you're in a group, the opt out is disabled, unless all players opted out of the same map.

Bumping because of the new Alpine Map makes me getting River City Night even more depressing with 15 minute+ queues.

I would like to see something similar to Starcraft's ladder map choices where you have a small amount of votes to choose maps that you do not want to play on. While you should not have enough votes to ensure that you always get the same map, you should have enough (2-3) to feel like you have some control over what map you will be dropping on.
Of course people might exploit this, I know personally if I was running my Swayback I would avoid caustic and the desert map (when we get it) like the plague. This might give me an unfair advantage of always dropping on cool maps. However the counter argument to this is that if we were outfitting our mechs for a battle, you would think that we would adapt our load out to whatever environmental conditions are present.

Same, I get excited to play mwo, fix up a mech, hit launch, RIVER CITY NIGHT. Suddenly doing my dishes doesn't sound like a bad idea.

I'm of the same mind but would actually prefer to pick the map I want to play, this allows me to use a specific build for a specific terrain. They could create incentives to entice people to play other maps but the the truth is it would be a good way of showing what maps the players like.
The other thing I'd like which relates to this in a way is knowing the payload of all the mechs on your team, it really bugs me not knowing what everyone else is capable of.

I'm sooooooooo sick of playing the same map 10 times in a row. Then getting a reprive for one match and back to the same ***** map. I have played near 40 matches today and only 2 maps. 2 maps! wth! It's like this every time I play. I understand this is beta but it's not an issue I have heard the dev's even consider working with unless I'm overlooking a comment or a post. If it isn't improved at some point I'm done with the game. I'll get my arse kicked over and over again and still play another match. Having to do it on the same map when you know there are 4-5 others is not fun. It's really frustrating.

Being able to select our map rotation and having a lobby system makes TOO MUCH SENSE.

Now I'm not asking to be able to pick a specific map, because that would lead to building mechs just around playing one map, and I'm not a huge fan of that -- I just want to be able to avoid one specific map -- that still leaves tons of variety of maps to get dropped on.
So it's similar, but certainly a very different proposal.
Although...
Being able to have an "Avoided" map and a "Favorite" map would be cool. Not a total ban or guaranteed selection, but just you're more likely to get your Favorite map, and less likely to be put on your Avoided map.

River City Night, we need to start seeing other people. It's not working out.
Whoever was in charge of the visual aesthetic design of that map...please, I beg you, never ever EVER make any art-related decisions again. River City Night is the equivelent of **** smeared on a canvas alongside other perfectly awesome paintings.
Frozen City Night looks more like Frozen City: Space Edition - while it's not accurate as an actual night map, screw it! It looks good, which is infinitely more important than realism.

Haha was just discussing this in game.
It would be nice to have a Map Filter. Much like the Mode Filter next to the Launch Button, but instead of a selector, it allows you opt in or out of certain maps using checkboxes.
I think that this would not only help streamline gameplay by allowing more players to immediately test new maps like Alpine (which I have yet to see after 5 games) but would be a valuable information resource for the developers as they can see which maps are the most un/popular and then analyze that data to determine a suitable course for future maps.
