Player controlled Tanks and Aerospace turned MWLL into a cheap Battlefield ripoff instead of an Mechwarrior game.
It was not fun. It was a horrible concept and I am glad it died.

AI controlled Tanks could be an option - maybe for gamemodes far in the distant future.

Also the idea that tank armour has through armour criticals when mechs don't is source fluff to ensure that tanks stay inferior to giant stompy robits.

Because one thing is for sure. Tanks > mechs in a live environment.
