Hello,
a couple of days ago I've found my nickname changed from "red.devil" to "red devil2". Can someone explain this change?

Thanks!

The period is an 'illegal' character. Someone else probably was already using 'red devil' sans the period.

I recently read another similar post and the Dev response was (in that case) that the system allowed some characters to be used that are supposed to have been "disallowed" for use in User Names. In this case the name was changed to the new name because the same user name without the "disallowed" character(s) was already taken.

I know that they are allowing only alphanumerical chars now. Names are easier and safer to validate this way, but I would like to know if my name can be changed again. I'm here since November 2011 just to avoid such orrible names
