Better Indication Of Team Kill Or Friendly Fire Damage?

With repair bills removed I've seen a higher rate of TK's and FF incidents lately.
While we have a hit indicator on the HUD now I think a FF hit indicator or at least a better visual when you've committed a TK might be helpful. Right now the only real indication is the post-game summary where it shows your # of TK's and the associated penalty. Maybe a highlight color on the "Player killed Target" line to indicate a TK?

When on TS, there is generally an audible warning of:
"Quit shooting me, %!#@#!"
Strangely it NEVER sounds like Betty.....

Crosshairs could flash blue upon hitting a friendly 'mech.

Or, when you place your croshairs on a friendly mech there could be large blue X to indicate that. I belive there was something like that in previous MW games.

An immediate red message in the HUD indicating (and charging for) friendly fire damage would help, for example:
FRIENDLY FIRE DAMAGE -100 CBILLS!
The amount doesn't have to be much .. just enough to let you know you are hitting a friendly, so you can make the right call. Team Kills, on the other hand, should cost a player more, and 2+ per match should cost them all earnings (and maybe even drain from their accounts after 3 TKs).

Something needs to be done. I'm good at avoiding enemy Splatcats, but too often get pelted by Splatcats, or similar, on my own team not even realizing they can hit me too. He'll, one of my main build uses a LBX which means I often miss kill shots because I'm avoiding blasting my teammate as well.

I do like the hover highlight idea and like focuspark, I've used LBX configs and had to wait... and wait.. and wait because I do not want to risk damaging a scout who is harassing an enemy mech.
Unfortunately that isn't always the case with half your team :| I've had cases of friendly stalkers and atlases that shear off all my rear armor as I'm trying to cross LOS on an enemy to SRM and Laser them on my way to clearing the shot :\
The TK penalty thing is one case where I'm just not sure how severe it should be. The sliding scale idea does seem nice, 2+ TK's forget any earnings, and maybe null XP would be another hit.

Honestly, I'd like to see the scoreboard changed to the following:
Enemy Kills = sum of % damage done to dead enemy mechs
Team Kills = sum % damage done to dead friendly mechs
Damage Done = sum of damage done to enemy mechs
Friendly Fire = sum of damage done to friendly mechs
Have those shown for everyone to everyone at the end of each match.
note: for the kills values if you killed mech A and B, but only got in the parting blow (maybe 5% each) you should see something like "Enemy Kills 0.10%" and not get the 100% credit you get now for landing the killing blow.

the problem with FF is on both ends. So many times people run into my line of fire. and sometimes i just can't pull up or down or left or wherever the laser.
Esspecially when running a big guy like the atlas, sometimes you don't see a friendly coming, that is very close to you and stoping righ in front of your arm or side torso, you know, that thing where the lasers or the AC/20 are stored in. I often fight zoomed in, i just can't see you when you step right in front of me.
On the other hand, i did it myself often enough - i ran into some allys fire and it was MY fault, not his. But how are you going to seperate those and punish it?

Elder is right, I prefer to not punish but to inform. I do believe there are a lot people who think FF isn't possible and just need to be told otherwise.

Voting yes, I would definitely like to know if I am accidentally hitting my own team.Especially if they have overheats or powered down.

It's true sometimes the FF fire is completely unavoidable, I've been zoomed in to fire LL's enough to have mechs cross since the field of view is so narrow. I think that's why I really wish there was a feedback so I know if i'm grazing or there's a friendly in the splash damage etc.
