Better accept that now and think on how we can shape the game into something enjoyable and interesting. High hopes for the next updates too, especially for servers with custom settings/flags.

I find it much easier to justify bringing less powerfull or crappy or outright funny mechs to a 4on4 pugstomper then to play them in an 8vs8.
If I bring a crapmech to an 8vs8 I always feel like I am letting my 7 friends down. Thats why I usually level the crappy mechs in 4 player PuGs and play the stronger builds for 8vs8 when we practice tactics/setups/roles.
Which is kind of the reason why I get bored fast with 8vs8. Its always the same setups on your own and on your opponents side. 8vs8 just calls for the min-max thing.

I see lots of different builds. LRM boats, SRM boats, Laserboats, walking arsenals with short, medium and long range weapons. People I play with mostly use diverse loadouts. Only one of us (4 in total) uses the same mech match after match after match.

I personally think PGI are holding back a fair amount of stuff for CW(R&R for example). Like what we have now is basically the arcade version of MWO, and we won't see the simulation/logistics side of things till CW arrives.

I did just build a gausspault, and it is fun, but feels OP.
I always felt that at some point people would start balancing the mechs themselves, once they didn't have to compete with Super Custom builds.

- totally revamped conquest mode (with point defences and more feel of danger and need for tactics)
- better map design to suit for different tactics and formations/splits instead of "this is MWO, stay together 247"
- fix lagshield and other bothering problems

Skill and ability is also shown by finding the best heat:DPS:Range ratios. Having a good labrat is a necessary thing for most units

Seriously, though, focus more on tactics and less on build-out. It's never boring to keep honing your skills and challenging yourself to take on more handicap and keep winning.
Anyone can build the best mechs and go 'pwning'. I challenge you to build something weird, go hunt down those people and help them out of their boredom.
The game has no need for tactics in the current state. Maybe when they add artillery and UAVs.

This will get sorted out when it's not just single drops. When it's 3-5 consecutive battles, boating(anything)is not so attractive anymore. When you have to pay for R&R and fight campaigns it will be a different story.
That LRM boat may be a powerhouse in the first battle, but will it still be effective in the fifth? That AC/20 cat is scary but can you bring enough ammo for an extended campaign?

The later seems to screw me over and over purposedly (stuck on 1 map forever with people on my tem who dont know how to play), and Im sure others will agree.
