This will get sorted out when it's not just single drops. When it's 3-5 consecutive battles, boating(anything)is not so attractive anymore. When you have to pay for R&R and fight campaigns it will be a different story.

That LRM boat may be a powerhouse in the first battle, but will it still be effective in the fifth? That AC/20 cat is scary but can you bring enough ammo for an extended campaign?

I look forward to answering questions like these.

I don't think R&R is ever coming back.

I fail to see how forcing ammo based mechs to equip ammo for 3-5 battles would prevent people from boating. If anything it would just make them boat energy weapons.

Not saying it would "prevent" but that it would make the option less attractive. And maybe with an MFB in which you can only take a certain tonnage of resupply with you, maybe even mission dependent limits? But these questions will not be answered for a bit anyway.

We used to play 8vs8 game, but now it's so boring we prefer split in two groups of 4.

Why ? because all the teams are the same now :
- ECM Raven / Atlas
- PPC / GAUSS Boat

There is less and less diversity, all the games look the same...

This is our feeling. What do the other 8vs8 players think ?

Our group has our fair share of running 'cheese builds' with three D-DCs, a pair of 3Ls, with a pop-tart (CTF-3D), Boom Cat (SRM6 x6), and Zombie Cent (CN9-D), and we see our fair share of similar team make ups on the other side of the map too.

That said, when things get 'boring' we mix it up and take all skirmishers (HBK-4SPs... CN9-As, ALs, Ds, FLAMEs, CPLT-XXs), or an all AC/20 run (only take mechs that can equip AC/20s and ONLY mount AC/20s), or an all minimum run (Energy = small lasers, Missile = SRM2s, Ballistics = AC/2s and nothing else) {yes, I know that minimum ballistics would be machine guns, but they are completely useless right now so we take AC/2s instead}. We win our 'fun time' matches more often than we lose, even if we DO go against 'cheese build' teams with tons of ECM D-DC & 3Ls.

TL:DR - If you want games that are diversified, then take a DIVERSE team. You don’t have to have all D-DC and/or 3Ls to have fun, and you damn sure don’t need any ECM to be competitive.
