Deafeating The Flock Of Seagulls

Even if you tell your team there's 4 on you and tell them the position, if they can't see red triangles there's nothing there and they won't bother. Instead they get destroyed by the 4 remaining mechs.
Match ends 8:0 or 8:1.

Also, I am not asking for nerfs or crying about flocks. This isn't something that happens so often it makes the game unplayable. So far, I haven't come up with any good tactics and was hoping some folks could share the wisdom. Sounds like SRM is my only hope.

Edit: This still won't save you from 4 of them. >____>

Fall back to your heavy firepower units/ your ddc. Im usually cautious, before i jam a ddc im my cicada.
Pray that they have good aim. A 3l with an open torso will probably run off for the moment.
I can remember a game, where my premade was me in a Flame and 3 atlai. We were filled up by four pugs in random non-ecm lights. Of course, they pulled an enemy premade in 4 3Ls.
I chose my position pretty optimistically and quickly drew aggro from the flock. My first though was - "great, 4x3L, gg"
I ran for the atlai, which maneuvered themselves into a firing line on a street ( map was river city).
The first raven which followed me into the street didnt make it for the next crossroads to turn away. Second and third suffered heavy damage.
In the end we won.
OC, this was a one-in-hundred textbook reaction. But nevertheless - the lesson learned is:
Getting swarmed by lights? - Run for your heavy firepower units and hope they have good aim. IF thats not an option, run for narrow places, like streets. If possible, do both.

Do not let yourself be singled out from the herd (about 300m spacing max) A flock of 4 Ravens do not have the armor to survive an 8 man fire team!

One could assume that some damage has been applied to the "Murder" already, unless of course, you simply ventured off on your own. If that is the case, then the pity pot is empty. Sorry.

You kill them just like you kill anything else. ECM creates problems only if you pack guided missiles yourself, if you don't - Ravens die just like Jenners, Hunchbacks, Atlases, etc.

Wish I recorded that fight. They get tunnel vision chasing down their targets and turn their backs to you frequently.

What you have to do is one of two choices: target one of them, and use either VoIP or Text Chat to tell your teammates what one-letter designation that target has, and then all of you have to target the enemies one-by-one until ya'll find the correct one to focus on; or have your team agree to always shoot the target of a designated close-range spotter such that one person shoots at an enemy and your whole team voluntarily follows suit (without even bothering to "call out" targets)

Self-destruct?
I've fought 3 or 4 Raven-3L's a few times in this game and each time pissed me off more than any other single moment in MWO. Not being able to share target data or easily designate a target to concentrate fire on sucks. Combine that with the lagshield affect of the past and it made for a terrible experience.
Also, ECM is an interesting mechanic, but it is stupid broken when used in mass groups, and the "flock of seagulls" demonstrates this all too well.

On a Raven, aim for the top of the leg - it's wider and easier to hit. AC20, 2xLPLs and some SRM fire for example will generally pop a leg off. Then you finish them.
Don't bother swinging to spread damage, streak/ecm balancing is such that it's just auto-hit damage in these situations regardless of relative skill.
If you can count on your teammates, great. That is however a separate discussion.

Rinse & Repeat
It can be done... but keep in mind... you have 4 Ravens X 2 SSRM2 each... so that's 8 SSRM2 x 5 = 40 "guaranteed" damage every time they attack. That doesn't include the 2 or 3 lasers they may be carrying as well.
