I just tried it. It's a lot of fun, but the moment a mech gets close to you, you're dead.
I do a lot more damage with 2 ppcs and 2 large lasers. In fact, it is now my favourite build. Crazy damage.
I use an xl 300 engine btw.

That's what friends are for
It's a great team mech for filling a medium-range support role.

Just for completeness' sake, here's the 4xPPC build I've been running since before the heat tweak. It's both faster and cooler than the other builds posted so far, at the expense of just a few points of armour that you don't really need anyway.

4x PPC is best left to the stalkers.

I all but wrote off catapults after I bought (and hated) a splatcat. I decided on a K2 due to my love of PPCs. Yes, quad PPC builds fit and they do work. Like any PPC build, it all comes down to your trigger discipline and situational awareness. In a quad setup, you need to be able to engage at range, and move on demand. Heat is a concern, but that is where trigger discipline comes in. I've gotten down right deadly with PPCs in terms of leading the target (popping lights is satisfying!) but just don't get over confident. I run a 300XL and 4PPC's (usually 2 ER, 2 std so I can dictate range easier/alpha on a sure hit) and the rest DHS I can cram in. My alternative build is a twin AC20 cat, which is brutally simplistic but holy crap effective. If you and 2 of your buddies all roll Quadcats and can call targets, anything in the crosshairs is going to go down insanely fast. Just watch out for raven swarms >=|

I use 4er ppcs on my cplt-k2 and these are the stats after 155 matches:
CATAPULT CPLT-K2
155 85 70 1.21 172 82 2.10 48,061 86,644 15:16:12

so its not that bad, it actually is alot of sniping fun! and if you can aim 1 lite is no prob,
2 or 3 yes.
but 2 or 3 lites would be a prob for any other mech.
