Would love to see it, they could even have a cool hero mech for it (Phelan Kell's Grinner).

You're just the only one that didn't realize it only has one variant until 3052.

Want it. Potential hardpoint layouts are limited and there are only 2 variants by 3050 so not likely to see it.

The anonying thing is, despite how neat of a mech the wolfhound is and how cool it'd be to pilot one, under the conditions of MWO it'd actually be a pretty mediocre mech.

In tabletop its defining traits were that it was a heavily armored, ammunition independent light mech. However, in MWO everyone is free to add armor up to the max allowed for the weight class, so that's nothing special anymore. It wouldn't have any missile hardpoints, so it can't mount the SRMs that are the best weapons available to a light mech, and even if it did get an ECM variant it wouldn't be able to mount any streaks. Ammunition independence is much less relevant here since we're playing relatively short rounds instead of drawn out missions, and heavy energy armaments are more difficult to manage heat-wise than they were on the tabletop. And since massively upgrading the engine is so mandatory for light mechs in this game you'd have to fit an XL, which completely defeats the purpose of trying to have a 'resilient' themed light mech.

Essentially you'd have a mech roughly equivalent to a jenner-F, possibly with an ECM variant but without jump jets. It would be better than the spider or flea, but not really a very good mech. And people would still wince a bit and wish you were a raven instead when they saw you on their team. I'd still buy one just because it'd be guaranteed to look incredibly amazingly awesome (if they can make the *cataphract* look OK, imagine what they could do with the wolfhound!), but I'd be under no illusions that I wouldn't be better off in a jenner or ECM raven/commando.

Yes Mech I am waiting for but given that it comes with reflective armour think we might have to wait a while.

Its mediocrity would be its charm, in my opinion.

I remember in the Battletech cartoons, the Wolfhound was the ultimate anonymous grunt mech, ready to be killed in droves every time the Clans (or anyone else) needed to look bad ***. A laser to the torso? The Wolfhound would fall down. A missile to the arm? The Wolfhound would fall down. To be fair, anything more than a stiff breeze would send this mech flying to the canvas like it had been hit by a hadoken fireball.

If this mech was available, I would be happy to follow this proud tradition of dying gloriously on the battlefield. I suggest that PGI release the Wolfhound when the Clan mechs are introduced.

Everytime I see that question...

:)

I mean yeah, how could one possibly think that Battletech / Battlemechs are popular around this forum, let alone those iconic mechs from the books? Among them...the Wolfhound. So unexpected, so astonishing! :P

You've already got Spider for that kind of: "I'm gimping myslef like a true boss!" behavior... when was the last time I saw on of them again?

I think it'd be great. Sure it doesn't have streaks, but is has a narrow profile which makes it much easier to avoid incoming fire. Give it ECM + better netcode and it'd be an excellent 3L killer.

Um.... no, really, it wouldn't. Narrow profile doesn't make a difference against streaks, and having ECM just means that the raven would have to go into counter mode instead. Sure it'd win over a raven thanks to superior energy firepower if the raven were ECM-outnumbered and couldn't use its streaks, but the raven'd be dead (or forced to flee) in that situation pretty much regardless.

http://goodsects.gotdns.com/bte/ (click on the little icon under "MegaMek" to see their Record Sheets)

WLF-1, A, and B, are all pretty similar.

That's not to say I wouldn't want to see it in-game, but PGI's way of trying to differentiate similar variants just to level 3 of them kind of shows how restricted that system is. I'd rather level up one chassis that I like, similar to Hawken.

My favorite TRO art for the Wolf is the 2x, which specifically had the Cockpit stylized differently than any other Wolfhound variant:

Here's your WLF-2. The only things lacking are:
  • The ERLLAS arm is not fully articulated.
  • The MLAS are in the left arm, not in the torso.

Yeah ... who am I kidding. I'd rather have a real Wolfhound, too. :D

My 3 year old daughter and I watch the Battletech cartoon together - the "Wolfpound" is her favorite 'Mech, even though it always gets killed.
