So I know that MWO is going to be about team work and so on, but I do wonder if there will be solo type play available?

Will there be mercenary missions, where you can sneak in and assassinate someone?

I'm a huge story line buff, and have a tendency to play RPG's a lot. Mech Warrior 2 is pretty much the only FPS style game I really enjoyed, and I fell in love with it. However even though it was FPS style it still had that RPG element.

Is MWO going to to have things like house missions and such that further a personal type story line, or anything like that? I don't mind the partying together for certain thing, but the thought of needing a party for everything I do does bug me a bit. How is that going to work?

How do you guys feel? Would you enjoy solo play content as well as team based content? Solo missions and the like?

From what they've said so far the "Lone Wolf" style of play (solo) will be supported.. you'll be plugged into slots to fill a whole (i.e. a group of 3 queues up, you'd be number 4).

My thoughts on this are similar to what Bethesda always says about adding multiplayer to the Elder Scrolls games. I think it's better to focus on making the game really good at one thing than to try and be ok at multiple things.

You would fill in the open slots.

I wonder if I was a Lance commander. Would I be able to put out a message saying I was looking for a certain clas of mech( Heavy Assault, Scout, brawler, Support). Or see a list of players that are LFG (Looking For Group).

I think what Zaxzia is asking is will there be any missions where only one Mech is on the field. Not filling a slot, but maybe one on one like doing a recon mission on an outpost.

Not a good one to use anymore, now that they've announced the MMO.

On topic, I would prefer to not see any solo missions, since I'm likely to be piloting 'Mechs that are meant to work with others in one capacity or another. Besides, there's really no such thing as a sneaky assassination in a giant war machine.

Clearly, you haven't encountered the sheer pants-soiling terror that is a radar signature at 200m.

There won't be any singleplayer or PVE stuff. In the future, who knows, they will have plenty of game assets one could recycle into a single player title or purchased PVE campaigns.

What would be the life exectancy be of a non aligned mech on the battlefield? If you get spotted by either team you are the target of oppertunity.

The "Dropship" gameplay mode has not been fleshed out totally (unless I missed it) but it does seem that may be a mode to just drop and do your own thing. You may have to pick a "Team" color (Red vs Blue) but that does not preclude the ability to try and sneak around by oneself killing singular Mechs as if they were targets for assassination (or whatever).

beter make pvp work properly first ... i mean they can always add a quest based story line later (but that would be a lot of work most likely)

well i dont get why being non aligned would make ur situation worse in battle .... unless ppl are gonna be ***** just cos ur not in a group:P
when we join ur team to fight our mechs/life is just as much on the line as u in groups =3

Oh, you can put a certain amount of thought and care into getting near the target - although getting onto the planet itself might be a bit more difficult, especially if the planet has any regular traffic at all and thus a working traffic control system. But assuming the target isn't just sitting out in the open in the middle of nowhere? That's a base or city you're going to have to move through, and that's not stealthy. Avoiding radar doesn't do much good when the local 911-equivalent calls start coming in.

Its probably going to play a lot like MPBT 3025, random map determined by planet, two teams shoot the crap out of each other.T

You can just PUG if you want, but historically speaking, most PUGs never communicate and do very strange things (such as hiding in a corner of the map while the rest of the team dies).

So is there going to be any story/purpose behind the matches?

I mean are we going to go to our house (or whereever) and pick up a new mission, then pug or find a party for that specific mission?

For me I know that was an integral part of Mech Warrior when I played it. It wasn't just about going out and slaughtering as many mechs as I could. It was about having an objective and accomplishing it. Everyone says it will all be matches, but are they just like a FFA or are they purposeful?

Even if I can't have some form of solo play I would still want that feel of purpose that an individually acquired mission would get me.

I can imagine it now. I walk into my House Mission Hall and talk to the mission Commander, who then tells me that a group of rogue mercs as taken over an important intelligence location, and that without it, we will be unable to gather information necessary for an ongoing mission. "Select your team, and re-acquire the intelleligence location. Do maximum damage to enemies, but do not damage any of the information relays. You will be paid highly for your success. Failure is not option, this location must be secured."

I'm hoping there is something like that. That was an integral part of the game for me. If it's more FFA matches than anything, I think I would be dissappointed.

Perhaps the Contracts will have a back story of sorts. One must remember though, this is NOT a single player game (at all) and any story will have to be told via different means than the SP game play type can provide.

P.S. We hope they keep the News Flashes coming in. Beats having to watch ISNN all the time. ;)
