If you consider trading money for advantages, I suppose that's pay for convenience...

Ever think maybe, just maybe, the community is up in arms because PGI just f'ed up bad?

I think you greatly underestimate the power of the current modules.

I'm going to save this so in a few weeks I can throw it in your face when you come back crying that a 6ERPPC Stalker chain fired 12 times into your chest.

Think I'm just gonna keep zipped up until I get home from work after the patch is dropped. Play the game. Formulate thoughts. The things sane people commonly do.

Losing a module slot because you didn't pay real money isn't convenience. It's a clear advantage.

Funny this happens all the time and people really think that all their raging actually does anything. Most players never come here, never see this rage, keep paying and playing or not based on their own decisions, not on the whining of the same people who have thousands of posts and are clearly not going anywhere despite all their bluster. Then these self same folk wonder why the devs have said they disregard their posts. You people will be here playing and paying for the next "catastrophe" like you've been here for the past ones. The very fact you have lived through multiple ones, while still playing and often paying discounts your rage. But don't let it stop you from heading for thousands more posts against a game that is doomed and the team doesn't listen. ;)

I'm embarrassed for the community...

I've been around PC gaming and forum communities for a long time and I can't recall a community that is so quick to forge judgment without trial and form opinions built upon raging hyperbole as this one... ;)

For all the gnashing of teeth and wails of indignation over consumables and flush, you'd think small children were being drawn and quartered for amusement.

IMHO anyone with half a brain and an ounce of discovery should be willing to at least "try" it before expending the copious amount of energy denouncing it...

Quite the opposite.

Hero mechs, meh, people got to make a buck.

This is rediculous.

YLW was the first step towards p2w though. It was a mech that was only available to people paying real money. The only thing that kept it from being pure p2w was the fact it rather sucked.

This time though, they crossed the line completely.

There is a reason people are outraged by p2w developments; they are bad for the game.

I will wait and see how it balances out after the patch. I am also sure that PGI will correct if blance is wrong. PGI does not want to make a game that fails. They also need to make a game that earns money. Monetization is a requirement. They have to make paying for things desirable AND they also have to make a game that remains viable. People need to calm down and help them rationally if they want this game and this community to survive past beta. I, for one, am happy to help the beta process along by giving rational feedback. If I try the patch and don't like the balance, I will make a well reasoned and non incindiary suggestion.

Well lets hope the Coolant Flushes and Strikes are as OP as Yen Low Wang has been!

On a one time use item?

This is not MW4 Coolant flush, once you hit the button it's gone.

It's going to be spammed like ECM at the start but will die off, because if anything it's going to be really expensive

Besides I'm a Mechwarrior, not a ForumWarrior.

It's not convenience.

MC Consumables take 1 less module slot for the same effect. You only get 3-4 module slots (when mastered).

That's a lot of "extra" slots the MC Consumable player is going to have available. I buy mine with c-bills. I have T3 level Coolant, Airstrike, and Artillery, and say an advanced sensor module as well (to help push through your ecm). You have T3 Coolant and Artillery, and that's filled all 4 of your slots.

I've got a T3 Airstrike and another module that you just can't have, simply because I paid $.

How is this convenience?

The PS2 forums are about the same even though some seemed to think the game was incredible. Consumables are about as pay-2-win as R&R was though. Not going to bother freaking out till I see them in action though (or would be if you could have dropped MC on it), don't sound terribly impressive in any scary way yet. Oooo someone can pay money to save a slot. Might mean something if there were any modules to really use yet.

Normally you would be right, because most video games do not have a long background or adhere to any type of lore. However this is Battletech throwback and with at least 6 game created over the past 20 years, people who have played them all understand what "makes and breaks" a Battletech/Mechwarrior experience. Coolant flush, Poptarting, 3rd person vision? That crap is CoD instant gratification and not Mechwarrior. You don't need to hit a cement wall at 100mph to realize that maybe 300 feet back you should have turned.

So before coming on here to insult your fellow Mechwarrior. Please remember, you are just Elite Founder trash and your opinion doesn't matter unless you're a gold.

If they released a new Medium Laser, that did the same damage, with the same ROF and size, but generating 1 less heat - but for MC, would you say this? How is this different?

The problem isn't the mechanics of the consumables, it's how the MC versions give a direct, obvious advantage.
