what lbx is good for is wiping out everything from the section that has no longer armor
got it on atlas (for lols) and often happens that i destroy most components in the exposed area before destoying it (rarely happened on the ac20+3xsrm6 build -that one tears apart the mech :D ) but i guess it could use some... tweaks...

i would be okay with lets say the weapon would deal hmmm 12-15 dmg total up until 200 meters then will drop quickly down and at 500 meters deals no dmg also the pellets would spread much quicker than now

No, it's not.

You are mistaken about how the game functions.

The LBX-10 is a support canon, not one for killing. And it's support job.... well, the LBX is nice.

If you are playing in a premade, the LBX is a very strong weapon. If you play in PUGs, don't use a LBX.

In a game where the point is to kill other mechs, weapons which are not designed to kill other mechs are bad weapons.

That reminds me...
Another way to make "crit seeking" weapons potentially useful would be to implement engine crits.

If you could kill a mech by scoring 3 crits on their engine, THEN weapons like the LBX would become useful (assuming they make it such that they actually function as crit seeking weapons, as opposed to how they work now, which is just garbage).

In this case, you did not understand MWO. :D

MWO is NOT to kill others - it's to win as a team.

Spread could do with being a little tighter and with the slug feature to be released. Buffing pellet damage however I think would be a can of worms - i.e. later weapons like LB20X becoming. unbalanced

That's my 2p and I've been playing a lot of games with 3 x LB10X Ilya and 2 x LB10X on the DDC. It's viable but UAC5 are preferable overall unless the jamming feature just ticks you off too much.

Simply not true. Inside of 100m any reasonably good marksman can put most of if not all the pellets into one torso location, making it a shorter ranged AC 10 with lower heat tonnage and crits. The range limitation is crippling at times however. To buff it all that needs to be done is to tighten the pellet spread, particularly at long range. The damage is fine, just a bit to hard to place outside of point blank range.

If you're humping me with your 10 damage shotgun. you're gonna get humped back by my 45 damage SRM battery, and a vastly superior ballistic.

So no, it's still terrible.

dunno if you ever used it... if i manage to get 2 shots with this into the unarmored section ALWAYS some weapon will be destoryed and im not talking about big guns like gauss/ac10/20 smaller ones... lasers/srms/ppc

generally i do this when im overheated and cant afford to shoot my LPL

and no i believe im not mistaken about how the game functions

Each pellet has a chance to do a critical hit, but each pellet only does 1 damage on a critical hit. Which means that, not counting 2x or 3x crits, you're gonna need to land 10 of those critical hits on the same component in order to actually destroy it (with the exception of ECM or Gauss).

Meanwhile, I can land a single PPC shot on there, and if it crits, it is guaranteed to destroy anything it hits.

You are mistaken in your belief that the LBX is useful as a crit seeker. The part you are missing is the addition of component health compared to TT battletech.

I don't understand any of this.

What exactly marks the difference between a support weapon and a normal ("for killing") weapon, and why would you rather use the "support" weapon? What's its advantage?

it's a excuse so people can justify using crap weapons because they don't know any better.

There is currently one support weapon in the game... the TAG laser. It is a support weapon because it improves the effectiveness of other weapons systems.

The LBX 10 does not improve the effectiveness of any weapons system. It is not a support weapon. It is simply a bad weapon.

This dicussion is useless, cause the reason for is wrong: MWO is a game, you can only win as part of a team. It is no game for the lone wolfe. So, an LBX-10 is a REALLY good weapon for the Team.
But if yu try to make all kills alone - what is stupid - don't use an LBX. So easy ....

It sure seems that way.

I wish people thought analytically... every time someone says they like the LB10-X, either they're imagining things (usually the crit-seeker argument, no matter how often it gets debunked), or because they "feel" it's a good weapon.

People expect me to waste LRMs to get kills with a whopping 1.8 damage per missile spread out. I'll soften them up. I only have 4 tons of ammo. People kill them so I can strip the next guy's torso armor for you.

I know they buffed LRMs and yes you can get kills with them but you need crazy salvo sizes.

Edit: LB 10-X? Slugs and selectable ammo please.

Yeah, this. This thread basically proves most people who play the game have no idea how it works.

We are well aware that team play is important. I'm asking why you'd be a better asset to your team with an LB10-X.

Why use it over weapons with better accuracy, better range, better crit efficiency, etc? How does team play make it good somehow?

People in this thread need to learn how to use a weapon that crits ten times in one shot properly.

^Like this guy

Read this fracking guide: http://mwomercs.com/...-a-brief-guide/

And then come back here. You understand how critical hits work in the Table Top game, but you definitely don't understand how they work in Mechwarrior Online.

Edit:

Apparantly, this is me:

You are fooling yourself if you think that spreading damage all over an enemy mech helps your team more than just killing it cleanly.

I can't even begin to understand how the LBX10 is supposedly a team weapon,

Maybe i'm just not smashed on enough drugs and my grasp on reality is not non-existent.
