Often I find myself the last player on my team (or facing off the last player on the opposing team ) and facing insurmountable odds.
There are times when surrender is not only a valid option, but just makes the most sense.

As it stands we can either run out of bounds, killing ourselves, wait for the timer to run out, or fight to the death. A last option is to quit the match, which most people are loathe to do (as am I. Very unsportsmanlike).

I'd like to see an option where we can surrender.
I know a lot of people might "surrender" at the beginning of the match, much like those who quit the match right away. There's no way around those, I guess so I won't address that.

Surrender option is only available under two conditions:
1: You have been stripped of all weapons (this includes running out of ammunition even if the weapon itself is not destroyed).
2: You're the last mech standing on your team.

Maybe, in 8-man teams, you could even stipulate that the enemy must also accept your surrender.

That might not be optional for PUGs as there would likely be a hard time getting consensus to accept surrender, though maybe accepting surrender would entail each surviving mech the same bonus as a kill assist as well as salvage bonus equl to all remaining salvage on the surrendering mech.

I like the idea. As long as nobody is robbed of kill/assist C-bills or XP nobody loses out. It also adds to the immersion, IMO.

Meh. I could almost see it making sense back in the dim misty past when we had to pay for repairs, but now that we've stripped that out I just don't really see the point.

I'm not sure, but when they got rid of the repair costs, I think that they made adjustments to the payouts that include deductions for "repairs". I'll have to look that up.

out of bounds - go there, game over.

And so long as you have teammates standing, I don't care if you have zero ammo left - you can be a meat shield for them.

Add a surrender button, so long as it counts as a death on people's dear KDR values, I'm cool with it.

Why don't you just let the other team kills you for the points? It's not like it costs you anything, other than ego.

EDIT: AGGGGGGG MY KDR!!! :SLITSWRISTS:

I could care less about K/DR, as long as the winning team gets compensated fairly in C-bills and XP.

A Surrendered 'mech should provide a substantial bonus, as a matter of fact, to reflect salvage.

If the surrendering Mech had a Death marked against him, sure.

The point of surrendering is to NOT have a death counted against you. A dead warrior can't live to fight another day. A "captured" warrior can potentially escape and live to fight. Surrender could also be seen as "Ejecting" and living to fight another day.
The opposing team would get even MORE credit for forcing a surrender.

If you're legged and weaponless, what's the point of continuing? Surrender and let the game continue. Especially if you're the last mech standing.

In fact "forcing" a surrender is considered preferred (in both MW gospel and in the real world military) than killing your opponent. And dying as opposed to being taken prisoner is only "acceptable" to those soldiers whom might know valuable intelligence that the enemy could exploit... and that doesn't apply here.

Then make surrender a condition that must be accepted by the enemy.

My point is to keep the stat padders from abusing the system.

So it's all about the all-important K/D ratio?

Best reason I've seen so far to not implement it.

Add this in game, them remove K/D stats...best idea I've seen yet.

If Conquest mode had a format that allowed for multiple rounds with surviving mechs only (no repairs) I could see this, but then the other side will simply kill you (which might make for some fun feud / RP possibilities).

But then again, I kill disconnects on our own team, if you try to surrender and I'm alive, I would probably ask for a temporary halt so I could kill you, (then the other team could go back to killing me).

Not just 8-mans.

If I see the enemy surrender even in a PUG drop, I would expect the remaining members of my team to vote on whether to accept the surrender in exchange for the full salvage value of the mech, or kill him.

Getting PUGs to do anything together is harder than herding cats.
If only ONE surviving PUG needed to accept surrender, that I could see.

Okay how's THIS:

When your mech is either legged (mobility 0) or completely disarmed of weapons (either destroyed and/or out of ammo), you get a warning claxton:
"Warning, Mobility 0" or "Warning, all weapons non-funtional"
You get a 10-second grace period to shut down. If you shut down within this grace period, you are considered to have surrendered and gain full benefits (XP and C-Bills) from the match, plus a minor bonus for saving your mech.
Failing to shut down/surrender within the alloted time and getting killed earns you a penalty (maybe 50% C-bill penalty? I'll leave it up to the developers to come up with a good number)

On the opposite side, any surviving opponent accepting a surrender gains a surrendered enemy bonus (lets say double the damage bonus done to the surrendering mech).
Failure to accept said enemy mech's surrender means you lose any salvage bonus you might have gained for such mech (since you've completely destroyed it).

Remember, often the name of the game is to disable and capture your enemy's mech, only destroying it when absolutely necessary while NOT getting your own mech destroyed and becoming "dispossessed".
