Unpinned? I haven't paid attention, but does that mean something?

Means they want to sweep it under the rug and hope you dont remember it existed.

It's over, the game is done. Right now Russ is holding a gun to Thomas's head and forcing him to paste Cataphract arms on a Catapult. They'll sell it as a MadCat tomorrow for $79.99 and once they wring all the money they can out of that they'll close everything down and run to Barbados.

To all the people in this thread saying "just be patient" or "you're too entitled!" I want you to know you are not doing the game or the devs any favours.

Being an apologist and helping devs feel like it's OK to slip deadlines and do a poor job of communicating with the community won't make this a better or more profitable game. The more they do this, the more they look like some rinky-dink operation that can barely function.

It is totally reasonable to be upset when someone tells you "we'll have this by Tuesday!" then when the day rolls around says "just kidding, maybe next week!" Nobody likes to be jerked around or misled. It isn't entitled to call ******** on delays and broken promises.

And lets stop kidding ourselves about "it's beta", yes it is a work in progress, but they're taking cash money, they're operating in every way like this was a full release with new content being streamed in. When we pay into stuff, like say more premium time because we expect the Treb to drop this month and want to grind up the cbills to buy them and enjoy the XP bonus while in them, and then it doesn't happen? Well, we deserve an explanation. They could at least be up front and communicate with the community, explain up front that it looks like a delay is unavoidable and why.

Again, the main problem here is communication. I have no idea how the devs and community managers can appear on podcasts every other week and be on the forums constantly and still never manage to address major common concerns or issues. If you know a delay is coming up, why not just be adults about it and tell your customer base what is happening and why, instead of leaving it to the very day and turning up an empty sack.

I don't even mind if the Treb isn't released.

What bothers me is the complete lack of communication, they fact that they actively avoid us.

They don't realize that we wouldn't even be mad in the first place if they just told us.

Nah, the **** on these forums would even be mad with a perfect game :-P

But more communication about tomorrows patch would be nice.

Perhaps they are just all so busy working on some last minute problem that they forgot to update the post on the mainpage xD

Anything in that post that wasn't in the Feb 5 patch is likely to be in the Feb 19 patch.

Yeah cause those have always been 100% accurate am I right?

What part about this are you not getting? They haven't released any screens, concrete info, variant details, or overviews of the Treb or new map. They haven't even released the next announced mech or upcoming hero. The usual hype cycle they run is to start pumping out screens/wallpapers two weeks or so in advance, variant details a week or so, and a hero the week of. The total lack of any of it has some of us understandably worried, and given their track-record, doubtful that they will make the supposed patch date.

A lot of stuff has appeared on the content roadmap before. A lot of it has slipped. How is that desert map we were getting round Christmas treating you?

It's disappointing. They started the month off SO WELL with the excellent Feb 5th patch. They generated such goodwill with that they could have easily told us in the middle of the month that the Feb 19th patch wasn't coming together as planned. Instead they've been weirdly silent and distant. Now we're hearing the Treb preview will be out tomorrow? Ain't that a kick in the ****.

Either it's released or not - what's the point? We will know more tomorrow, a image file being released 2-3 days ahead won't make any difference. Lots of overanxious people here and to a degree I'm curious as well what we are getting with tomorrow's patch, but that's it. Any progress is good at the moment and the last few patches have been pretty decent in my books.

Of course it would be really really nice if patch notes and plans were communicated in detail before the patch hits with stats, graphs, flashy videos, images etc. , but afaik since OB this never really was the case and pre-patch communication has eroded to small bits of pieces strewn through the Twittersphere, Facebook and the forums.

Okay... let's be honest about this.

Scenario 1.) They show up today and inform everyone that unforeseen issues will potentially delay X from being released. = We get 10 pages expressing absolute outrage and prognostication that yet another slipped release is surely heralding the demise of MW:O.

Scenario 2.) They make the announcement tomorrow, informing us that try as the might to make the proposed release, unforeseen issues will delay X from being released. = We get 10 pages expressing absolute outrage and prognostication that yet another slipped release is surely heralding the demise of MW:O.

It's a no-win scenario... PGI is damned if they do and damned if they don't...

You guys act like PGI is intentionally making concerted effort to screw this up. What makes it even worse is the fact that the wailing and gnashing of teeth thus far has only been fueled by pure unadulterated conjecture...

The win was two weeks ago when they realized there was a problem. Like I said, the Feb 5th patch generated so much goodwill that it would have been fine. What isn't fine is leaving it to the last second.

How do I put this? Have you ever had to cancel a date? What's better, telling her the day before or more? Or calling her cell while she's sitting at the restaurant?

Stop enabling them. They are a real big-boy business and when they say "this is going to be out on X-date" they need to make sure it comes out on X-date or have a great explanation why it isn't. If they can't make their dates, they should stop posting them.

I think our main problem is this

We love this game
PGI is doing a damn fine job with the amount of staff we they have
We want this game to succeed
We want to PGI to be held to the high standards of the type of game they are producing.

I mean they are just arn't doing the little things...

"Hey guys we are having some trouble with the Trebuchet animations, it's not going to make it into the patch tommarow"
"We found a very easily exploitable place on the apline map and need some time to remove it"
"Sorry we couldn't give you guys screenshots! Our guys are busy playtesting to make sure the patch goes smooth! But let me tell you about that ppc change..."

5-10 seconds... that is all we ask. Yes there are flamers, trolls, and people just being ***hats, but you are hurting your dedicated fans also.

The first thing they tell you at your first job is what?
Show up on time, call if you are going to be late or can't make it.

LOL! I should have to capitulate purely on you drawing the simile between a woman and this community... pure win! :D

Seriously, I understand from where your basing your argument, but it's purely speculative. If your argument is that PGI has shown patterned history and this is your foundation... I argue that the one thing PGI has not shown us is any form of patterned history!

So then someone offical (I am not offical) could have wrote:

"Hello fellow mechwarriors! For all of you who arn't in Canada, today is an official holiday so the PGI staff isn't on board today! Don't worry about the patch, last time I checked everything was running smooth!"

The above took me 30 seconds to write.... I'm glad to know this but... in my view this still does not excuse what is happening...

What's "happening" other than over reaction to a postulated delay?

This is what infuriates me about community forums... It's so easy to start a downward spiral with nothing more than a fart and and a whisper... :D

Maybe I'm reading that wrong but are you seriously inferring that PGI never delays things at the last second without telling us at all?

Actually, it wouldn't surprise me that you don't know considering they try to do it as quietly as possible.

I'm not "enabling" anyone. Seriously - do you really think PGI reads these posts and thinks "Aaaah see we can pull this off, they are fine with it"?
