There are currently two things missing from my mech which kills immersion for me. The first is there are no audio cues for torso rotation and neither is there an audio cue for arm and torso reticle separation.

The second is the reticles and the feel as they converge and separate.

Imo, mech mastery is all about those two reticles. Getting to know just how fast they converge, taking arm shots at maximum torso twist etc. The problem is, there is no feedback other than visual for this mechanism.. This is something that screams for force feedback in a joystick solution but that is something that remains to be seen.
So.
I have a two part solution.. One, concerning torso twist, there should be an oscillating pitch tone that indicates to what degree of maximum your torso is twisted. I for one am very very pleased with the audio in game.. I think its pretty fantastic, but the lack of any sound indicating your torso is in motion, and to what degree is a hole in immersion. I think it would be very useful to a pilot to know not only by looking at minmap, but to not even have to look at minmap and "hear" what his mech rotation is.
How would it work? simple, torso and legs centered is your base tone.. have it rise in pitch say 4 notes to max rotation left or right. No need to look at minmap, you know your relative position to center via the tone. This is something that should be done for everyone..

THis next item, is something I would pay for , AND i think it would be a good moneymaker for pgi.

The reticles... I love the concept, hate the implementation.. That tiny little yellow circle.. that thing is no fun when the fur flies.. Especially if your trying to push the boundaries of what you can accomplish with arm weapons. In my spider I am often trying to pull off some mighty quick shots with a ppc in the arm and that circle gets lost often, whether its terrain, weapons fire , whatever..
Id pay to have my reticles be any number of "alternative reticules that behave in any number of different ways.. "
By that i mean.. different shapes, different colors. and different sizes. . I dont ever want to search for my arm reticle.. Thats just something that a mech pilot would suit to taste.. I guess much like ww2 pilots used to set their guns to converge at a certain point.
Same goes for the line that connects the two. I am sure there are more than a few examples out there of different ways games implement this, and I see no reason why the art department cant come up with a few themes that are functional and visually cool and effective..
Once again, for mc..
Hey, novel idea. visual customization you can actually SEE in game. !!!!

Finally, I surely wouldnt mind an additional audio cue to represent separation of arm and torso reticule.. Useful for sure at max torso rotation..

tldr// Lemme customize my reticles..

I like these ideas, lots of good stuff to work with here. The soundscape is rich but not so full that it couldn't add in a torso cue. And custom reticules would be interesting. You should bug PGI about these.

I agree that the HUD should have different reticules and colors to choose from. I would also pay MC for that... But not too much, I would want to have a lot of choices. If you could even change each individual mechs reticules that would be even cooler

Yes, custom reticules and HUD element tinting seems nice.

Make a thread in suggestions forum, as they actually read that one.

They need a "lock arm reticle to torso reticle" toggle button. The other mechwarrior games had this.

I would like independent reticules for each arm and the torso. Heading for suggestion box now!

ON a side note.. IF.. the devs ever get to joystick support, increasing resistance as your arm and torso reticules separate would be... idk... the most amazing thing ever?!? I love the idea of the xhair of the torso being the center mass of your weapons... Iow, its as if the line connecting your reticules behaves almost like a bun-gee cord..

idk, i want feedback on the separation between the two... so that the full range of motion between arms and torso can become more intuitive.

They have something similer to this already. If you hit "C" I believe it is, then it will push everything center with your legs. Not quite a torso/arm lock though.

Pancakes and masonry chateau en le beba le bleu peanut jam and tatters fiddle make this only one to the top of the space moon.

If you're all so concerned about your reticules then perhaps this is the incorrect game for you.

I'd like kill stamps (like on the outside of fighter planes or w/e) to accumlate at the side of the screen, im more likely to pay for that than paint.

Track-IR + Razer Hydra for 3 independent reticules. Add an ST1080 HMD and you've got a neuro-helmet. :(

Replace the Track-IR and ST1080 with an Oculus Rift and you're down one less piece of hardware.

Of course, this assumes the Track-IR or Oculus Rift will eventually be supported.

You need to turn up your volume if you can't hear the cue for torso twisting.

It's very audible; the sound of gears whirring away.

The whole idea of paying for a screen/interface customization that games used to make standard is just sad.

Buy this lima bean and we'll give you this magic 8 ball for 75% off. If you buy both of those items and this lushious panty liner you gain a $10.00 in-store credit after your purchase of this very expensive and over-price slap chop knock-off.

Oh Hello! Welcome back!
"Yes my slap chop knock off didn't come with blades or the spring to make it pop back up."
Well you're in luck! We have the spring in stock. Pay an extra $ for the spring and we'll throw in this tamagotchi, a pet your kids will adore! Act fast, because we only have 1 blade left and we're ganna charge you the shipping for our next order!!!

TL;DR: I agree with you. All these interface options should just come with.

@moon unit.. I know you googled reticule.
also, I know there is a slight torso twist grind.. It doesnt indicate degree of twist,

yeah, it would be free when you paid 50 bucks for the game.. As it stands now, the odds of there being any kind of RETICLE options going forward are close to zero.. I cant stand the arm reticle so I would certainly pay something to modify it in game.. Its a revenue stream to support the game.. you know, like founders.. Im certainly not inclined to pay for bobble heads, hero mechs or paint.. so.
