I dunno WHAT they did, but this match makeing system feels like it's back in the first week of beta...why do they think that 2 good players can make up for a team with 6 bad players? and the ELO is not taking into effect weight class, they need to fix this issue A.S.A.P, teams are SO inbalanced now that its no fun...take for example, JUST played a match with 5 D-DC's and played again a team with 5 lights...I mean how is THAT balanced?.....I'm not going to play a game where I am on a team with 5-6 BAD pilots against a team with all 8 skilled pilots....this is getting rediculess..get off your ***** and fix this

P.S. that match I am talking about...they where full teams but I was just useing the 5 mechs as an example

WOW!!!! Just when I think PGI(DEVS) can't screw the game anymore, they prove me wrong time after time. ELO IS BROKEN. Skill vs Skill doesn't work when there is no weight balance. I wish I had money so I wouldn't have to depend on people who just want profit from an idea instead of providing a product worth paying for. DO IT RIGHT and the devoted and casual players will stick around and make the investors more money in the long run. It might be time to go back to EVE Online if this continues, and I'm not even someone who bought a founders pak. If I had I would sue PGI for my money back and pain and suffering for a product I was promised and they failed to deliver. May be my expectations are to high.

Had about 20 Games now with the new Matchmaker.
So far iam quite happy with the results, fights were quite intense but balanced.
Was pugstomped only two times, but because of our team beeing splitted.

Sometimes the teams are outbalanced by tonnage, but i can deal with that.

The queque Problem dosent exist any more, had to wait mainly 30sec to join a Game.
And the new patch gives us some of the time back, cause the mech is much faster free'd at
the end of match.

Right now the elo system needs some serious fine tuning, sure everyonce whlie i might get matches far more competive terms player skills. but somtimes this thing way off find myself being grouped with some horrible pug players and having opposing side players out tonning use by a large margin.

What happened with balance after rollout? Now matches even not balanced by class.

Is it possible to see one's own skill rating? If not why not?

Few points.

- For long term, I think you need to have at least two game mode. Ranked and unranked. Not everyone wants to play competitively and not everyone wants to play competitive all the time. On the flip side, competitive people will be frustrated and annoyed by people who aren't competitive but have no choice to play in ranked game. Regardless of ELO, if you don't want to play seriously, you can troll, bring crappy mech, bring a questionable mech build, not participate, and so forth.

- For long term, probably need to split into multiple ladders if player base is large enough.

- For immediate beta testing purposes. Please clarify how...if not what compoents go into calculating the actual ELO. Is it purely by win/loss, damage done, based on pilot points earned, mech weight/variant, type of win, certain achievements (i.e. killing 6 mechs), kills, assists, combation of the above, etc.

- Soon as possible, incorporate some form of in-game reporting capability to report users. Initially for negative behaviors because there are definitely increase in trolls, questionable players (as in possibly using hacks), players exploiting bugs, and so forth. Asking people to log into their email and email support is not a realistic way. How many will stop in middle of their drop or in-between to open an email and write an email? Most won't.

- Later include way to report positive behaviors (like Honor system in LoL).

I just got done playing my first full day under the new ELO, mostly pugging alone, and I can't believe some of the players I was matched with. Some of these pilots looked completely lost as to what they were doing inside of a mech. I've been playing since open beta began and it looked like these guys had just started this week or this day. I also noticed a weight discrepancies multiple times. But, you don't even care enough to fix ECM or balance the number of ECM mechs, so what should I expect? Pretty unenjoyable day.

FYI.
Was in a 4 man group and our entire team of 8 was comprised of 1 Assault, a couple heavies, and a couple mediums with 1 light.
The enemy team?
5 Atlas, 1 Awesome, 1 Heavy, 1 Medium.

Skill or not... that is broken. That said we still ALMOST won by cap.... (YAWN) lol

That's nothing.

I was in an 8v6. I was in the 8 man team (not a premade, just solo pug) and totally won.

Then, I was in an 8v5. I was in the 5 mean team (again, just solo pug) and totally lost.

There is something really wrong, or it was the wrong time of the night (EST) to have noone to be added to the uneven matches. I don't think there was any DC, but that was just TERRIBLE.

Wish I had pics to show all, but PGI can look up the matches themselves.

Our side had 3 Raven 3Ls, 2 Commandos, 1 Jenner, and 2 Centurions.

The other side had 3 D-DCs, 1 Catapult, 1 Awesome, 1 Trebuchet, and 2 Cataphracts.

HOW IS THAT FAIR?

PGI please explain.

Because of your three Raven 3L's.

(j/k - mm is a quick thing to improve and a hard thing to get right first time so play on and it'll wash out)

It's funny, I was one of the most vocal opposers of Elo MM before patch (because with no rewards there's no real incentive to improve your gameplay) but seems that now I like it more than most.

I've played dozens of battles since the fix and mostly battles are much more even and fun than they used to be. Haven't really paid attention to weight class matching. If a battle is a close one, I really don't care. Certainly if I had experienced lots of stomping matches I would've started looking at weight classes for a reason.

It's obvious that people experience unfair battles but the important question is that are they more common than before? It used to be possible that one team had groups of skilled veterans against helpless pugs. And it happened a lot. Are these uneven battles now really more common than before? If not, we're going in the right direction.

On meeting newbies in battle: If I'm not mistaken, new players start with an ELO of 1300 instead of 0. So if you're an average player, you can indeed meet newbies on the field.

On weight class matching: I believe complete weight class matching is quite impossible combined with skill based matching and importantly the groups as well. It would require an enormous player base. But certainly some of the pictures posted above are beyond reasonable. I would say maybe a tonnage difference of 100 should be the absolute maximum allowed by the match maker. One would think that the match maker could've switched around some Mechs in the above pics? One Atlas to the other team, one Centurion to the other. Thanks to Elo, everyone should be quite evenly skilled so swapping Mechs between teams to ensure fair tonnage seems like the way to go. Full groups of 4 are obviously a thing that might thwart this, though.

Put those stupid cheesy builds fight against each other! If people wanna play with 4men 6xSRM6 build drops, 2xAC20, and other ultimate one-shot-kill builds, full team lrm boating and so on let them fight together. I wanna play MWO in the way it's (hopefully) meant to be enjoyed.

The ELO is definitely not balanced. It isn't a question about who is better pilot. The question is: "who has biggest guns". And that comes from tonnage.

You call this balanced matchmaking?

More info:
http://mwomercs.com/...balanced-teams/

Balanced team is not:
2 ravens vs. 4 ravens
4 splatpults vs. 4 hunchbacks
ECM vs. non ECM
4 DDC:s vs. 4 Medium mechs
LRM Boats + ECM vs. Non LRM Boats + Non ECM

Balanced team is:
2x assaults vs. 2x assaults
3x ecm vs. 3x ecm
lrm boats vs. lrm boats
4 light mechs vs. 4 light mechs
4 splatpults vs. 4 splatpults

When you have balanced teams, you can go with skills.

MM3 with ELO is still stupid.

Right now CQ mode, own team ONE Light, enemy team 4 Lights....annoying and frustrating.

Different number of Mech in the weightclasses is most stupid idea of PGI ever. Atm ELO is most important thing over all, and thats completely wrong way.
First thing should be same number of Mechs per weightclass. Second thing similar Elo.
Uneven Elos are less worse than uneven Mechclasses.

After a few hours suffering MM3 im really upset and will not play until this ****** is fixed.
Events....lol....thats for impressing children and will not change my mind.

Are you saying that 8 man groups vs pugs -bug is still present? Haven't heard anyone claim this since the fix.

Solo waiting times after fix are short at least for me. Once I've had "failed to find match" and that too came pretty soon instead of waiting for eternity like before the hot fix.
