I've hard locked 6 times tonight. I'm walking along and it freeze frames. Only way to get out of game is ctrl-alt-delete and end the task.

Same crash issue which existed since the Feb. 5 patch is still present. Exhibits itself as a full screen hang, and every crash has coincided with LRMs impacting a mech. Must be terminated with task manager.

Game freezes while halfway playing. Fix it before next patch please or at least give us back our premium time.

I'm in the same boat. I can get maybe one or two maches before it just hangs and I have to ctrl+alt+del.

Been a while since I've done a clean install of the game, so I'll try that and report back.

Clean reinstall seems to have sorted me out. > Dozen games and no crashes. Fingers crossed ;)

In my case it helped a lot to turn on VSync in the game menu.

Before I had 4 Freezes in 5 games.
After turning VSync on I only experienced one Freeze in 7 games

This keeps showing up in my logs. I wonder if this has to do with the crashing.
[Error] CryAnimation: no valid character file-format: EngineAssets/Objects/Default.cgf

The game crashes as soon as someone dies in a certain mech.

Been playing this awesome game for 2 weeks.

I have 57 application crashes in my event log all from MWOClient.exe. In 2 weeks. That is on average, 4 crashes a NIGHT.

PLEASE, FIX THIS GAME!

Just got a bug.
After battle it started to flicker at a high rate between home-screen and mechlab.
Alt-Tab did not help but made the window dark.
BUT: The game continued to work, after clicking Bowser opened for forum, and a battle started after it!
Within this battle the game froze just when I started to annihilate a poor catapult with dark red internal torso...
I don't know If I got him or not....
Had to kill MWO with the taskmanager.

Four games since the patch and I've already CTD'd twice... not a nice way to kick off.

Im having the same issues. Game would just freeze while in game and no error message would appear. I just have to shut it down through the task manager.

My game keeps crashing to client mid-match about 60% of the time since this latest patch. Although I've had very occasional crashes before in the past, this patch has definitely done something, where I'm confident I won't be able to finish a match before crashing and getting a disconnect.
-
When I do crash to the client screen, there is no error message that pops up.
-
Timing has been sporadic of when the game does crash, as it's crashed at the Betty start-up, during the middle of mech engagements, or when I'm running around the map unhindered.
-
Due to the sporadic nature of when the eventual crash does occur, it's pretty hard to re-create the steps other than to start playing out a match and waiting for the crash to occur. It does tend to crash more frequently during mech engagements. No specific weapon damage seems to trigger the crash (ex. LRMs in the air, getting hit by PPC, etc). The only consistent I can think of is that I'm using my Founders Jenner-D when these crashes do occur.
-
My in-game video settings were at Medium before the patch started. I usually run it on Very High, but switch it down to Medium if I'm streaming. I've switched the settings to Medium, Very High, High, and Low to see if it would help, but each setting would crash at one point or another.
-
All my devices and drivers are up to date. I also un-installed and re-installed the game to see if this might help. It did not.
-
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I'd really like to get to the bottom of the CTD issues currently being experienced to best help us out please post the following if you are still experiencing this issue:

1. Look in your C:\Games\Piranha Games\MechWarrior Online\USER for a file crashdump.dmp if it exists please log a support ticket support@mwomercs.com and we can look it up via your Pilot Name

2. If that file does not exist but the game hangs rather than kill it in task manager, right click on the process and click Create Dump File then attach that to a support ticket (again we can look it up via your Pilot Name)

3. Try enabling V-Sync in the options screen to see if it lessens/stops the crashes

4. Ensure you've shut down all third party software to ensure there is nothing that could be interacting with MWO

5. Post these details (help us see if there is any commonality):

Operating System:
Re-installed the game: yes/no
Default installation folder: yes/no
Solid State Drive: yes/no

Thanks for any assistance tracking this down for you all.

Just to add something else that's hopefully common knowledge, please ensure that you don't have any extracted versions of the pak files. In other words, if you extracted Objects.pak into an Objects folder in the Game directory, get rid of that Objects folder (keep the Objects.pak file). Extracting is not encouraged in any situation, but in this case it's even more damaging. So, if you don't remember extracting a pak file, then you're probably all clear (since it has to be done manually). If you're uncertain whether or not you have done this, then just check your Game folder. It should only contain two subfolders - Levels and Localized - along with all the pak files.

Again, not likely to be a culprit here, but it needed to be pointed out just in case.

(Bottom line - please don't extract the pak files, bad things happen.)

Same 4 me.
I deleted Mechwarrior-Online\MechWarrior Online\Bin32\frontend_version.dll
and launched again.
Some 1800MB later everything works fine now. Did 6-7 matches without any problems.

S!

Ok, checked PAK files. Have never touched them. Have tried lowering or maxing the settings and everything in between. Checked different drivers for the GPU. No help. I get no crashdump file, just the described hard lockup with sound looping. And it always seems to be related to a situation when a lot of missiles are in the air, every single time. Particles maybe?

Gonna try the tips given and send the files on next crash. System specs below.

Operating System: Windows 7 Home PRemium 64-bit with SP1
Re-installed the game: yes
Default installation folder: no, on another HDD. No problems with Steam or any other games installed there.
Solid State Drive: yes, for both OS and games

CPU: Intel i7 3770K @3.4GHz
Mem: 16Gb Kinston HyperX DDR3 at 1600MHz
GPU: AMD Radeon 7970HD GHz Edition, drivers 13.2 Beta 6
Mobo: ASRock Z77 Extreme4 with latest BIOS and drivers

Craig:
I disabled V-SYNC and turned on Full Window rather than full screen so that when it does crash, I don't need to reboot the system. When MWO softlocks in fullscreen, I cannot access the desktop, only the Metro part of the OS. No hangs so far since. I'm adding my crashdump to my ticket as you requested.

OS: Win8 64bit
CPU: Intel C2D E6700 2.66Ghz
RAM: 4GB DDR2
GPU: Nvidia Geforce 560 Ti 1GB
HD: Not SSD. 2TB Sata drive.
