Annoying voice yammering on and on about people targeting me. I felt threatened the first 20 times or so (only played 6 matches). Now it is just interfering with missile warnings.

Turn it off. Or have a preference to turn it off.

Also... hello... real world. How does a mech know it is being targeted? "Captain, we have just been scanned!" In Star Trek, yes. In MWO I have no feeling that any advanced tech is being used. Give a 2000 era engineer 5 lbs limit and the problem and he/she will set you up with a camera, laser on a motor mount and computer that tells you all everything about that ECM'd mech which is in walking in plain view.

In combat, you know you are being targeted, or you have ECM (and they are too far away etc), or the other player is a noob/has a lot of stuff on his mind. Out of combat, it alerts you to light mechs (etc) that are targeting you, especially when you get behind cover and nothing in front should be able to get a shot on you.

It has to go, because its freaking worthless. A mech sneaks up on you and your team, you deserve to be shot. ECM actually makes it harder to sneak up, because either they know you are there, or their ECM will be countered letting them know you are there, I guess they wanted ECM to lose its only real drawback.

Also, I just made a puddle with my own pee pee.

I think this feature will make Long range Laser/Ballistic to not want to target their enemy to avoid alerting them that we are getting an aim on them.

And the LRMs will be the most affected since they are forced to target to get a missile lock.

Personally, I like the feature from a defensive point of view, but hate it from an offensive pov.

This will make tagging useless as a scout. My effective way past ECM is to get in my Raven behind a enemy team and hidden and tag them for LRMs. That is what a scout does. Telling someone I targeted them makes my scout now useless as they know to look for me if they were hidden from the front line.

If you can't tell you are targeted by missiles incoming or by the ppc blast that just went by your head, maybe you should play something less difficult like pick up sticks or something. I mean they already gave you hit markers. How much else do you need?

Please don't dumb the game down to much, that is what breaks a MMO. Let people learn some things on their own.

It kinda elimates the ability for recon mechs to do thier job? You cant actually do any information gathering un noticed without the enemy knowing you are there.

My solutions:

Add it as a feature of the BAP that can detect when you are being targeted. (seriously BAP needs to be able to do more and this would be a good thing to add to it).

Mechs that have ECM do not register when targeting you, unless disrupted or hit by emp.

Change it to a warning that somone has "MISSLE LOCK" on you. Now that would be useful, and we allready have "incoming missles" .....so maybe its already there.

Ok thats my 2 c-bills worth.

Opinionated poll is opinionated.

I have no problem with this new feature, but I feel it should be an option as I can understand people being bothered by constantly hearing the notification.

Also, I actually feel it adds depth to the game - if you want to sneak-shoot someone, then do not target him. Or if you do, wait with pressing "R" until you are actually ready to fire.

Part of scouting at any decent level is feeding back build intel though - and even putting that aside and playing the current brawler craven - you want to know if that's an SRM or LRM cat you're about to ambush.....

Ideally, this info should be made available beforehand - or you simply have to take the risk. That's the additional depth I was referring to.

Though, actually, now that you mention it ... I have a feeling "concealed targeting" could be something that the Guardian-suite should be allowed to confer, as opposed to being the missile-jamming miracle cloaking device it is now. Would turn 3L-Ravens into Scouts again rather than Streak-boating Hunter/Killers. (or maybe ECM could be made available to everyone once it's not so powerful anymore that the devs need to restrict it to a few chosen chassis)

Two decades of quake then CS at a decent level and mobas these days - I can click with the best of them - especially in super extended range heat vision. Honestly these complaints are not built on a frustrated lack of success. Generally alarm bells start ringing when the business of smacking people upside the cockpit is made ludicrously easy by a new feature, not because it makes anything harder.

So if you're a scout mech your team aren't really getting much benefit from you are they :o

Pretty much what he said. I don't recall this in any of the books I ever read either. Please don't dumb the game down more.

After reading all the feedback here & in general discussion I agree this target warning notification should be BAP only or a Module feature rather than default for all mechs.

For default, I'd rather get a separate warning for missile locks instead, or again, as part of BAP or module, too.

Perhaps it should only apply to when your mech has been locked onto (LRM/Streak lock), as opposed to simply being targeted

Instead of saying "You are being targeted", have it say "Warning: Enemy Weapon Lock Achieved"
