...and I regret it. I bought the ECM variant and either I'm ***** or the Rvn 3L just kicks my *** one. Any ideas for how to enjoy this cicada and the others (I was thinking the 3C to try and maximize the crit system and the 2A {I buy in threes}) or should I just sell it and pick up a Jenner or Spider? It may also be important to know that I generally play heavy or assault mechs, but am trying to branch out. I also already have the Ravens mastered, but I don't enjoy them as much. I may try them to find out if it is my piloting skills or the cicada that are lacking.

Steemship, I highly recommend you go with the 3C and 2A and whatever you do with them, always make sure you have an ER-PPC.

Cicada was my first foray into ECM a while back to see what all the fuss was about. Maybe now the fall damage from moving over any terrain that isn't dead flat has been 'fixed' (*yet to test) the Cicada might be a bit more tolerable, but SSRM toting Cravens will still eat it for breakfast.

I sold mine ages ago.

I love the 3M, it's a great chassis. Put the ballistic slot to good use. It's the fastest mech that can use ballistics properly.

The tripping is fixed and streaks still do devour it. Yes, it is Fatetakers fault.

Hmmm you are talking about my cicada.... 3 Medium lasers and a ER PPC.... ive never has a problem doing 200-400 dmg in a game with it while scouting effectively.

Us Cicada Pilots are a rare breed.

Dagnome, I pull 200-400+ damage games regularly in my 3C. The ER-PPC does most of the heavy lifting, but having 160 dmg from 2 tons of dakka ices the cake quite nicely.

1. I always check on the pre match screen how many lights are in the game. They are the greatest threat to me.
2. The Cicada is a medium mech that is only a 5 ton overgrown Jenners. Play it like a light.
3. Overheat and Die.
4. ECM? You don't need it.
5. Accuracy, your'e the razor doctor here.
6. Situation, situation. Always know what your moving in.
7. COVER USE COVER
8. BE CAREFUL!

Do NOT regret and walk the Cicada softly, with grace. Surely lights are not your gamestyle.

Don't play it as a scout.

Mine had 2xERPPCs, an XL, ECM and enough HS for two alphas, short pause and a third.

It wasn't unexpected to get about as many kills as there were Catapults in a match.

It's a sniper from hell, especially on maps with good range.

Torso mounted ERPPCs with fast convergence means quickly lining up the shot. Only a tiny half of your head has to peek the ridgeline to get the shots off.

It's a sniper mech. It's two licks to get to the center of either a hunchbacks spine or a Catapults face and you can do it at ~800m.

My Cicada 3m has 3 tags, mg and a flamer. But if I wanted to help out a noob to cicadas, I'd prob have him put full armor, ecm, 4 medium lasers, and the fastest engine you can get.

Think like light calvary only engage those who are already in a fight. Hit and fade to friendly mechs.

Cicada with ecm you should be the last dude alive always.

XL340 is good. Cicada is like the muscle car of mechs. With a big engine like that you might want to do 4 med/ 1mg.

4 med lasers and 1 AC5, works pretty well 2 tons of ammo (60 shots) is pretty decent since it recharges faster than lasers can help chew larger mechs.

I have a 3M and love it. Since they kind of fixed the lag shield I don't feel as vulnerable to the 3L as I used to. Just aim for the legs. I run an XL300, 2ML, 2LL, 12 dbl heat sinks, ECM. It goes 133 with speed tweak and can deal damage from a distance. I have not found a better build for that chassis.
