Great summary, thanks
Looking specifically for a non-XL chassis, but maybe I'll try the 3C or 7M first (after all, I'm used to getting ST-popped by now)

Any screenshot or video on the new cockpit? I'm such a sucker for a nice working space. :D

cockpit looks like Hunchi. Th thing I like about the 3C is that the 3rd laser from the 5N is in the chest so u can get a laser to work with if you lose your arm which makes it -3 if you lose it. aside from that about the same. I like them all tho

biggest problem with the trebuchet.

It's huge.

like absolutely gigantic.

What on earth were pgi thinking making this thing taller than the catapult?

such an easy mech to kill because of it.

Funny. I was wondering if the trebuchet made the Centurion obsolete.

This is 100% my issue with it. Why on earth would a 50 ton mech be as tall as an atlas (same thing with Cents), You are taller and wider than a stalker... What in the world in deed were they thinking. The mech should be the same size as a hunchback, as should a Cent.

It really is to easy to target/pull apart because it is too big, and doesn't have the armor needed to cover that big a frame.

Cockpit has great visibility.
The downside of the 5N is that it's exactly the same hardpoints as the 3C (which comes with upgrades already installed, a 300XL engine, and a much higher engine cap) outside of the placement of one energy hardpoint.
So, there's really no reason to buy a 5N instead of the 3C so long as you have the CBills and don't mind one CT energy slot.
The other 4 variants all have something going for them:
3C is the fast one
5J has jumpjets and is a laserboat with 1 missile hardpoint
7K has torso ballistics
7M has 3 missile hardpoints plus 3 arm energy slots and jumpjets

The upside to the 5N that everyone misses is that it has a bigger torso twist radius than the 3C. That doesn't sound like much but as anyone who loves Hunchbacks will tell you that expanded twist range really does expand your brawling capabilities.

That settles it, I'm going for a 7M first. Want something different from my other mechs (semi-sniper and flanker/brawler) and LRM-jumpjets feels like the way to go. ;)

Btw, what are the price tags on the different variants? I imagine 5N is the cheapest..

Still like my 4sp better, I sold a fully customized 3d and cent a to buy the bucket. And I'm kinda regretting it. The torso twist is too narrow, and it's too weak. I haven't tried with a std engine in it yet, because I can't afford one. but I would assume I would lose a whole lot to have a std in there, as compared to my 4sp that has max armor and a std 250 with 1.4 efficiency and 4mlas 2 srm6s. It's fun unloading 3 srm6's in peoples faces, but it's not worth it. The 4sp is a better brawler, hands down. Which isn't surprising because the bucket wasn't made to brawl.

Yea the only reason it's not instantly dead in any brawl is because of it's decent speed, even that isn't enough to cover for the fact that it is huge though.

the 7m is a little over 7million and the most expensive is over 8million.

Cannot believe how tall this thing is. The cockpit is higher than a Cataphract! I can't help but feel it should be a good deal smaller than it is.

Any your point is? I get games like this all the time with all the mechs (except for cicada/cents/awesomes, and now trebs. I wont play those uless forced). It doesn't mean that the Treb/Cent aren't too big.

Explain why you think a 50 ton mech with less weapons than an assault should be taller/bulkier than an assault.

Actually do the same in my 4SP. I'm just joking about the height. I'm just saying if you are having trouble with the treb something else is wrong. Should it be shorter? probably but Where it Is now I like it.

PS: It might be a balance against its speed after thinking about it. Easier to hit at high speeds or atleast more likely to hit it

Looking at concept art I thought it be around the same height as a hunchi

I don't have issues with it, I just wont play it. It's too big a target, just like Cent's.

If they were the same size as a hunchy, sure, I would love them, but I feel stupid as hell in a mech that's 50 tons looking down on assaults that out weigh me and have tons more weapons/armor than I do, with the same size engines (for the most part).

Something to consider:
They don't make Jenners/Ravens/Commando's bigger because they are fast, nor should they. There is no logical reason to make them that big, in fact, in warfare there is every common sense argument to make them as small as reasonably possible (reasonably includes needing space for repairs/refits etc, which they manage with 100 tons in an atlas frame that is almost the same as the treb).

.... The idea of balancing out its speed which already means it carries less weapons armour and ammo by making it have giant hit boxes is terrible and i really hope that isn't pgi's reasoning.

It's so large that in my A1 i can instant kill trebs by firing vaguely where they are going to be and the damn thing explodes into candy because of how thin its armour is.
