Crysis ran on CryEngine 2, so no, this is not the same engine.

As far as the graphical shortcommings are concerned, it is mostly tied up to these three facts facts:

1st: This is a downloaded F2P game and as such, every additional detail costs you GBs of space.

2nd: The more eye-candy you add, the more disadvantaged the hi-end user becomes. Crysis 1 was primarily SP, so it didn't matter to them (good MP only came with the expansion). It is heavily apparent in some ways the game looks worse then in CB, because some details can't be simply turned off on a low-end machine and they decided to simply cut it.

3rd: CryEngine 3 is a consolified engine, compared to the CryEngine 1, which is created just for the tech. advancement.

+1 for intelligent post :-)

I have a lot of hope for this game, though. When it first became playable, it looked a lot worse. They've gradually sharpened much of it over the months.

Oh I remember those days, red Atlas', horrid green hunchies, goldish yellow cats.

Forest colony was a bright sunny map LOL.

Damn I've been playing for a YEAR NOW!!

For everyone complaining that this game looks like crap, just be glad you didn't play back when K2's could kit Quad UAC5 that didn't jam.

And that you only had TWO MAPS!

im sorry but who actualy gives a DAMN about graphics? this game could be running in frikking DOSbox and i would care becouse i play games to have FUN, not to have my eyes sprinkeled with pretty pictures. ill go to a art gallery or a movie if i want that.

This topic sint about what you think... its about poor coloring and shading... making things "hard to see" on some maps. I understand realism.... but I think its a step too far... as the 'hard to see' imagry on some maps is not nice to look at, and is actually straining your eyes just to see things clearly. In short... we dont enjoy it.

Thanks! I found it:

C:\Games\Pirahna Games\MechWarrior Online\USER\Shaders\Cache\D3D9

And now there are two folders in D3D9 labelled "CGPshaders" and "CGVshaders" (and a "lookup.bin" file). What, exactly, do I want to delete?

Delete the cache folder.

Thats how to clear all the cached textures.

Be ready for some bright green textures to show afterwards, but it goes away after they are downloaded and loaded back into cache.

What do you want, highlighted mechs when you target them?

If you don't enjoy it, then why are you playing, let alone complaining about it?

I delete the entire DX9 folder including the folder, when you next restart a game it will recreate the whole lot

I have to agree with this, its not pretty pictures that keep me playing games, those are only temporary eyecandy which I get bored of after the first few weeks of gaming. There is something else that keeps me playing a game. Its more longlasting and important than any other part of the game.

Its called gameplay. Now lets work on getting it better. **** your temporary eye candy.

Very true, the graphics are underwhelming as is the lack of destructible environments. Walking through small trees in my giant mech, to then see them still standing is a little disappointing. If you want an example of poor graphics, look no further than the cockpit. The wires and cables in some of the mechs are just horrible 2D skins.

I'll hope that the inclusion of DX11 will improve things dramatically but I highly doubt it.

I did not refer to the art style of Crysis games, all I meant was that the '07 game was far more technically impressive and consistent than '13 game based on the same engine and - looks like - higher hardware requirements.

There was no '07 game, and the trailer was not done with CE3.

I can agree with folks complaints if they are having necessary blur and bloom effects.

However, 'Mech should always look like drab, beat up war machines as opposed to bright and colorful anime robots.

Devs have stated that destructible terrain in something coming in the future. Flamering (that's a word!) woods for obscuring smoke effects would be sweet.

that explains why the maps all look like a grey blurred out mess?

pretty sure in the Roadmap thread they said they are making destructable environment items... it's just not even close to a pressing issue, they have much much bigger fish to fry.. .if it wasn't obvious. I even ran a tree over near water in river city the other day, so it's in the game.. they just have to add more, you know, when the game is actually stable.
