- 325+ standard engine (for faster torso turn speed)
- 12+ DHS
- 2xmlasers
- 2xUAC5
- 3xSRM6
Here's an example of the build: AS7-D-DC.

I use a kinda similar but slower build:
Standard Engine 260
2 SRM6 & 1 SRM4 with Artemis
2 UAC 5
2 Large Laser
You got a bit more firepower at medium and long distances with that while still being a decent brawler
Even more brawly is my Atlas-D-build:
Standard Engine 320
2 LB 10-X AC
2 SRM6 with Artemis
2 Medium Pulse Laser
Nothing for medium/ high range here but devastating damage in close combat situations and a decent 52 kp/h without speed tweak

I think the D-DC's ability to carry ECM is invaluable. This allows you to close in on targets undetected. This way you're within your optimum range before you are forced to engage a target. Also masking your paperdoll and weapon loadout is nice. This means your enemy doesn't know what to expect until you're close or firing on them.

Atlas has max armor, so you've got to figure that would be good for a brawl.
D-DC is only overused due to ECM. If that isn't a "must-have" for you, any of the other models may work too.
Though it does help him get into range without dying...
Stalker has max weapon hardpoints, so that sounds good. Plus they are a little faster then Atlas.
As for brawler weapons:
Heavy ACs are nice.
Med Lasers seem to be preferred.
SRMs are deadly, but consider either Artemis for the SRM6's or SRM4's as both have tighter spread.
Streaks + Light Mechs = good friends (assuming there are no ECMs!)
Hope this helps!

Depends on your play style but I like to advance, retreat and flank in them.
Also can get lazy and put in some Lrm's.
There is also the K2 version with you can access dual ac20, very nastey but limited on alpine.

For more well rounding brawling, there are great brawl builds for various Cataphacts, Catapults, Dragons, and Hunchbacks. But a very stand out brawler currently is the 3xSRM6 Centurion 9-A. It is not at all uncommon to see them with damage numbers matching the Assault and Heavy mechs.

Also the XL Splatcat will in most cases destroy an Atlas. A real nightmare to be honest.
Cheers!

Atlas D-DC (already mentioned)
Stalker 3F (6 med. lasers + 4 SRM6)
Catapult K2 (2 AC20)
Catapult A1 (6 SRM6)
Hunchback 4SP (4 med. lasers + 2 SRM6)

edit: I also kind of liked my Hunchback 4G with 3xAC/2s.. good punch with 12 dps (for a little while, heat gets to be an issue).. but I ran an XL-255 in it so it was a bit squishy and easily blown up. That's what prompted me to move on to the bigger toys.

You can get more dps out of 5M, but it makes for a worse brawler than 3F due to its limited torso twist.

Hmm.. didn't really notice that. I guess I just got used to backing up and turning to stay engaged, but more twist is always better. I might have to dust off the 3F and check that out.

3F has 85 degrees twist, all other Stalkers have 60 degrees - makes a lot of diference in a brawl.

Completely agree with all the selections above. Other brawlers that are less recognized but still effective:
Centurion 9-A (3x SRM6's w/ 2ML's)
Fun brawlers: (run behind and drop ac20's in opposing mech's CT-R)
Cicada 3M (AC/20 w/ 2 tons of ammo)
Raven 4X (AC/20 w/ 2 tons of ammo)
