Yeah in Chromehounds you were able to customize the chassis, cockpit, weapons, textures, ammo, and all kinds of things. To what extent can you customize those things in this game? Are there future plans for implementing this amount of customisation?

Can you elaborate on the similarities? Besides the fact that both games have mechs.

I never played chrome hounds, but I've talked with some people that have. The whole engine-size-speed correlation is in MWO, except when you drop tonnage you don't go faster like you did in chrome hounds. Gameplay is similar, though the maps are currently small, and many of the heavier mechs move quite slow. Terrain in MWO is much more detailed than in chrome hounds, so you usually have to deal with more verticality. Arms of mechs target independently of the torso, making some mech designs more flexible than others.
I believe you were able to change the components of your vehicle around in chrome hounds. This isn't available in MWO. You can change the texture of the non-hero mechs, but things such as arm, hand, and leg styles are fixed to that chassis. There are various weapons that have their own characteristics. I would say the weapon diversity is more like Halo than COD. Every weapon has its own niche and there aren't various manufacturers of the same weapon as there might have been in chrome hounds.

Thank you for your answers so far. Most of you guys have been very helpful.
I know some of you have gone into detail about this already, but if anyone could expand a little more on the two questions quoted in this post(mainly the second one), I will be satisfied.

Myself and my friends loved chromehounds until the double-double builds ruined the game. This game does not suffer from the overbalance issues that chromehounds had.

There are plans in the future to be able to load different kinds of ammo, to introduce a lot more weapon systems, probably to allow some sort of HUD customization, you can already buy cockpit items however that is not advised, and in the future there will probably be adjustments to the mech model depending on what sort of weapons you put in a particular spot.

Exactly what I wanted to read, thank you. Any particular reason why buying cockpits is not advised?

No problem. Keep in mind that this game is in fact still in Beta and is always changing and growing with every patch. This may be out of your comfort zone but I also recommend joining a merc corp and getting on teamspeak with them. It makes the game much more enjoyable and they will all be willing to help you out.
You can find them here: http://mwomercs.com/...um/60-outreach/ Take a look around and see what you like. There are units for all sorts of play times and styles.

So I dont see MWO being that successful but there is not a line you need to cross
....but got a PC Port, yes?
Most Console games that are strictly console or one format console are... "eh". Chromehounds was poorly reviewed and lacking. It had some eye candy and the customization was interesting if whacky but beyond that....
