I run my own mail server, so I every time I register to a new site, I use a new e-mail address. The one for mechwarrior has been getting right wing paranoia in it. Stuff from crazy people about how the Sandy Hook massacre was faked and Obama is coming for your guns and all that nonsense. This e-mail address is used for nothing else. It has never been posted online. Either someone at MWO is a paranoid lunatic, MWO sold its e-mail address list to a paranoid lunatic, or MWO's server got hacked by a paranoid lunatic.

I'd like an explanation.

I have nothing such as the above described and I am signed up for all of PGI's email newsletters regarding MWO.

If you use it to login, it's probably sitting in a cookie or cache. could be being trawled off your machine.

and yes, I'm signed up (twice!) for pgi's newsletters and announcements and have two logins. Neither address is receiving spam you are describing.

The explanation sits in the header of the E-mail message. Here is a hint, you don't understand how E-mail works or how easy it is a phish an E-mail Address.

Considering the number of people getting all this spam seems to be a total of one, I'm inclined to conclude it's all something at your end. Maybe a side-effect of the type of sites you've been surfing, or a lack of sufficient protection?

I got one of them too, a lot of people did. It was right after that security breach a while back. Many people claimed their address was only used for MWO, so it sounds likely.

Haven't gotten one since, though.
