Yep, echo here - get very off balance matches (in terms of weight) around 1/5 of times when playing in a 4-men group.
That's expected in 8 man groups (no weight balancing) but is it intended in 4-men? Or a bug?

No. MWO is not balanced.
And these cheesy builds are getting ridiculous. There's no normal drops anymore. Splatpults are in the bottom on the list and on top there are 4xPPC stalkers, AC20+3xSRM6 atlases and Gauss pults, Poptarts and so on. And mostly you end up in team where you lack such builds.
Not to mention about 5 vs. 8 matches. Fix the balancing regarding equal amount of players and then do proper matchmaking engine.

Agreed and confirmed that balance is worse than before this patch. Some part of the weight+skill matching algorithm isn't working as intended.

yeah, it seems to be getting worse and worse the more they "fix" it. With more matches like these, people are going to stop playing because this is just messed up.

Looks actually like its working, in a way. There was obviously a four man on your side and your team also managed to kill four of theirs, though still a loss, If I were on your side I would call that a pyrrhic victory for the other team. The huge weight disparity withstanding, you almost prove that even having all assaults will not always guarantee victory.
Also shows the value of having ECM, or that ECM is overpowered if you want to look at it another way. Where the other team should have steam rolled you but didn't on the basis that you at least had two mechs capable of running ECM.
Either way, that must have been one hell of fight going on.
I know when playing at night with a buddy or two, when teams are obviously mismatched, we don't look at it as a woe is me moment, but a challenge, to see how well we can do given the odds are heavily stacked against us. If it happened every time it could get frustrating, but it hasn't thus far.

We put up a hell of a fight and did enjoy ourselves, just more of a wtf moment when we saw what the enemy had.. Mainly since the matchmaker was supposed to have been fixed.

Came from a match where the enemy team have four Raven 3Ls, one spider, versus our lone 3L.
Real stupid.

So.. welcome to the jungle:
You've ended up against a team with 675 tons vs 420.. in the pic above we met 620 tons with 390 in our team. Open a ticket to the support.
I understand that I could have been in a team of strong players (we were running 2 DRG + 2 50 tonners in a 4 man group but yet we've been paired with 2 lights and two mediums).
You can win against lower skilled players, players not cooperating together, but it's a tad hard when you miss over 200 tons in your own team. I can understand 100 tons, I can understand if an high skilled Dragon pilot is paired up vs a lower tier Cataphract but not in a over 1,5x times your own tonnage.
