Both characters are acceptable, overlooking the minor lostech selections....
Screw it, one lance will just be a five man.
You're both in.

Post will be forthcoming very shortly, feeling much better now.

Also, I will be designating the other lance commander in the next post, does anyone want to exclude themselves or does everyone want to have a shot at it? (I ask cause I have had some players that didn't want to have command roles before)

EDIT: Sign ups are closed as of now.

DOUBLE EDIT: Also, double negative points for adding a faction vote after it was stated to be closed. ;P

Li's command experience is limited to small groups of astechs and tech trainees. She's only been under fire once, and it could be considered "combat" only in the strictest sense of the word.

I'm not saying no, but Spokes is probably not a first choice for the position.

Nathan has noble blood and his only experience of warfare is the harrowing battles of making good furniture. While this makes him a perfect officer candidate in Lyran space, the rest of everywhere should be somewhat more skeptical. I'm not saying no, but picking him to be a lance commander is a vote for hilarious incompetence over common sense.

Random questions of the day-- Is there a moon(s) up? Are there global positioning sats in orbit?

Kharkand has rings and 5 small moons, reflected moonlight is low, maybe half of what we get on Earth from our moon.
The few Satellites there are around Kharkand are in a constant flux of being hacked by both sides, or are damaged or destroyed, feed from them is sketchy at best.

Huzzah! Many thanks Janitor. I didn't vote after the election was finished, I don't know what you're talking about >.>

Shep has a fair bit of command experience, however will vehemently and angrily refuse if you give Lance Two to him at any stage.
Trust me, you don't want an angry Scotsman on your comms

Off to Oz-Comic Con for most of today, will post Shepherd's first in about 12 hours. Apologies.

P.S. William Shatner and Richard Dean Anderson in the same room? Yes please!

well... not sure you want TOG "leading" anything... but it will be done as you request... his poor lancies might bemoan their fates before long, but so be it. I've read the command decision and TOG is leading Lance Two (don't worry, he will have something to say to himself about that).

Now, maybe a bit of terrain info would be nice. or as lead in front do i get to make it up as we go... for now anyway?

I mean, I could make all kinds of assumptions about the results of a terraforming, but if you are thinking relatively flat desert with the details from that "sat" map being gullies, wallows, and maybe even laced with caves and I come up with trees and house sized glacial erratics at the feet of steep forbidding hills... well, i think you can see what I'm asking for.

Next, what is our scale at the base map's resolution? I could make assumptions like a walking 'Mech average might be 50kph and Jarrund might be only a couple hours out at that average speed... meaning we are 100km from our start to Jarrund (the dot).

Of course, that also begs the question of just exactly where does the somewhat populated area begin, or is the capitol only a klick or so wide and really only serves as the Ducal Residence and associated Military complexes?

If I read the briefing correctly, there are no units to our north (our left flank); meaning we are the end of the line and i need to reinforce my left flank for scouting or at least stagger my heavier 'Mechs to be able to fire left without changing positions (ie., wing left). actually, I may ask that in the story... we'll see. but having already asked there about friendlies, maybe I should ask here also. oh, and do we get to call in those jet-jocks? please, please?

Any expectation of buildings (in any condition) in the near future?

all i know is that eventually a scout mech will try to jump my charger, i will grab it by the leg out of the air pulling it back down to the earth, i will smash the cockpit, pull the leg off and beat things with it. i even have jokes prepared.

just make sure that if you grab a 'Goose that you get the right one. TOG will be most displeased if you do that to his... and remember, old age and treachery always overcomes youth and skill... :) :)

Yes, my 'Mech has four legs. And yes, it needs all four of them. Just, you know, to clarify. :)

neither of your two mechs can jump, so you have nothing to worry about.

(ok, don't shoot me, i'm just the messenger, dal10) "well, if'n that hunk of steiner gets in a hole and i run off'n a ledge nearby at 130kph (about 80mph), he'll durn well think i could fly. just because he needs a crane to get off his feet doesn't mean the spry amongst us do. young pup, hmmmph."

lol, also, mechs can jump using myomer. on a side note, the charger is known for melee, so that is how i was going to play it.

on an even sider note, all of our characters besides yours are in their mid twenties to mid 30s.

andrei - 28
antonio - 32
alan - 28
james -33
li-hua - 34
nathan - 35
tog- 57
will - Thom - 25
will - Guardian - 30

so Thom, you have the youngest character, but all of us have been around the block a few times.

Amen to that.

Janitor, as a scout lance, how are we going to be encountering hostile contacts? Will you PM us what we see and then we report in as we see fit?
Just curious.
