Elo: Is It By Weight Class Of The Mech You Chose, Or Just An Overall Elo Score For Each Player?

I only ask because Bryan Eckerman earlier specifically noted that a player who was lamenting the long waits for matches in his Atlas was in XX percentile (can't remember) overall and 98 percentile in the Assault class.

Given some of the tonnage mismatches, since the game factors Elo first before weight class in matchmaking, it made me wonder if the Elo was by weight class. I can't remember if the Devs stated one way or another on this.

Feels like it measures you, and the class. I get much harder fights in my atlases than I do the stupid mediums I drive for fun and flavor.

Weight matching is gone, you can have 8 splatter cats VS 8 hunchbacks

I wonder if the matchmaker only matches you against heavier opponents if you have ELO greater than that team?

You have a seperate Elo score for each weight class. The weight class matching takes a lower priority as search time increases.

As Bilbo stated, you do have a seperate ELO score for each weight class. It is weight, not chassis, specific.

Cheers.

I kind of get the impression that in addition to that, it might be including some element of the mech's tonnage too, such that heavier mechs have an inherently higher Elo rank for the purposes of matchmaking.

This might also account for why you are seeing the terrible, terrible atlas builds you've been reporting.

So, is it still making some attempt at tonnage balancing? It's just no longer forcing it to always be balanced?

i think each player has 4 elos each for each weight class.
whether there is a modifier depending on whihch weight class you use i don't know.

but there doesn't really need to be a modifier.

since if bob plays mediums normally and has a 1200 elo, but gets a elo of 1400 in assault mechs because he does better and its easier to play in assaults. Then bob's assault chassis gets a functional +200 elo modifier relative to his other weight class.

and thats what we want right? we want the players with bigger guns to play against more skilled opponents with smaller guns. bob with his 1400 assault elo will play against joe with his 1400 medium elo. (joe has a 1600 assault elo btw)

This is how they can throw chassis matching out the window.

genius really. maybe PGI has a chance after all, i just hope they listen to the right people in their company.

I didn't see anything about an ELO score for each weight class in the Command Chair nor the Patch Notes. Did I miss it?

You would have a 1300 score with lights then. According to ELO I am an "average" 1300 Assault player... which is were it will forever stay.

Makes sense. I didn't pilot a light and heavies only 4-5 matches during the time frame they were data mining in prep for Elo, so that'll make it interesting when I get around to tinkering with those weight classes again. In the meantime work needs to end sooner so I can get home and grind more cash for my eventual, unnecessary purchasing of Trebs to out perform the hunchies I currently enjoy running.

When did PGI hire the "Electric Light Orchestra" to do the sound track? Sounds rad...

This ELO song seems suddenly appropriate. LOL <_<
