ok so we got elo and the premade vs pug whine about the game pairing you up with ppl better than you or not. this whole thing is dumb. if your a good player your a good player if your not then your not period end of story. If you wanna get better play more its not a hard concept, you wanna get better run with some oh i dunno make some freinds maybe? maybe get off your butt and look at the forums and heres a thought LOOK UP VENTRILO AND TEAM SPEAK ON THE FORUMS!!!!!!!!!. its there i know it is i just looked it up

this game was ment to be a simulator thats what all mechwarrior games are. You wanna be good? then play more. find ppl. this community should not need pgi to coddle you with stat blancing programs and algorithms. this aint modern warfare its not halo its not any other game. its mech warrior BUILD YOUR MECH find out what your good in then find out what you suck with. and honestly if your not a mech fan and you dont really know much about it fine but shut up. the rest of us dont want this game turned in to something its not just to make the rest of you whiny ppl happy.

and i mostly wrote this just to stir you up

New players should have time to learn how to pilot their mech, toro twist, and use arm weapons vs torso weapons before being matched against people who can headshot them in one mouse click from 800m.

Elo is a good thing for everyone.

ROFL, never was and never will be. In fact Elo has been proven not to work with multiplayer games and or multiple statistics. Even if it did I do not like it, nor do I agree with the premise that I should be segregated. Personally I would prefer to go up against the top players and loose every time in comparison to being "placed where I belong".

I'm sure there is a point in the OP somewhere. I just can't find it.

Battletech has always been about the future, as seen by the 1980's, and what better example than ELO? I like the Electric Light Orchestra and I think the game is better for its presence here. A deft move by PGI.

And yet, in every sport you see divisions created to make for fair competition. You don't see Flyweights boxing Heavyweights. You don't see minor league teams playing against Pro teams. I find your statement that even if Elo was working perfectly as desired you still wouldn't want it baffling.

Everyone has a right to enjoy his or her in-game experience, whether they are newbies, average or high-skill players... Why, even trolls, people afflicted with gold vision and tabletop players should be able to have fun and even win about half of their matches.
A rating-based matchmaker attempts to provide this level of enjoyment as well as address the issue of pub/pugstomping.

It's not always successful, but it's always preferable to possess a matchmaker at all than it is to contend with the lack of one.

Do i have to logically pick this guy apart too, or can I take a break and just laugh at him?

Wheres the issue OP? Mad you get paired based on your padded stats? and not your actual skill?

It's funny you say that because some of the most competitive and skill based games use a similar system with good success, CS GO for example. So you clearly don't know what you're talking about. Gaming is also about convenience there's no reason anyone should be forced to scour the net for a group of people to play with in order to enjoy a fun and balanced experience.

For some reason, I think people who are against ELO are the probably the same people who take satisfaction out of destroying rookies.

There's no joy in killing a foe who doesn't even know how to group his weapons. There's no honor in slaughtering a pilot who hasn't grasped the basics for torso-twisting.

I crave an honest fight. A battle where my foes are just as good if not better than me. That's what makes MWO fun - when my abilities as player are pushed to the limit. Right now, I have a 4.0 KDR, and I'm not proud of it. Too many kills were helpless pilots who were still learning the game. I've had the opportunity to face some elite players in the 8-man queue, and let me tell you - that was fun.

If there's no fear of dying, what exactly would make the game exciting? If you fight a worthy opponent and win, now that's satisfaction.
